The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

I don't think my DX50 comes with documentation (bought it second hand) so I'm not familiar with some of its functions/displays/quirks. I find it odd that the battery died so quickly after my last full charge though. What are you guys getting for battery life on 1.2.2 set to medium gain with volume at 170-ish?

Oyy its bad to hear the hifiman re400 and dx50 have bad synergy. I was pretty content with the re400s.. not a spectacular IEM but doesn't do much wrong. Hm maybe the re400 is more source dependent than I thought.. and maybe that's why I didn't care for the colorfly c3 lol.

You should really test it for yourself (and share your impressions if you wish) - the opinions on this thread are widely apart... I for example am quite happy with the combination (but am just new to headfi stuff).

By the way: I quickly tried plugging my dx50 to my home hifi (marantz sr7007 and b&w 804 nautilus), very disappointing, it just sounded sort of distorted and flat and just ugly (sorry I don't have the vocabulary to describe the sound better). (I'll have to try plugging it differently and with a difft cable because I can't believe it's so bad... and to compare properly with playing the same FLAC files directly on the internal DAC of the Marantz.)

That is sad to hear, I have the same marantz sr7007 and was thinking about doing the same thing. Did you input through the front?

There is no user manual for DX50 when it shipped out from Ibasso. The battery life should be around 14 hours when fully charged.

How about 1.2.4s for solar energy

Or something better, DX50 charges itself by absorbing heat while inside your pocket. Wondering which firmware version will that be supported

Kidding aside any news when the next official FW will be releases?

So my DX50 just decided to die on me for seemingly no reason at all after 3 days of operation. Getting the orange exclamation mark when I power on? Can anyone help me out with this?

I got that too, it was a discharge battery, I put it on a charger and came back to life.

I just added the Exclamation-mark-of-not-really-death-just-low-battery info to the FAQ: http://www.head-fi.org/a/ibasso-dx50-faq#user_death

Hi! I'm planning getting a 64gb microSD, but here in Chile you find them for ~$120 in stores. No way I'm paying that amount of money.
So I found a guy at 'Mercado Libre' (sort of a local eBay) who sells them at ~$45. I want to know if it will work with my DX50:

Sorry the link is in spanish, but a picture is worth a thousand words... :). You might be wondering why I'm asking such a silly question since there is a microSD slot and the iBasso site claims that it can handle up to 2Tb of music, but I just want to be sure.

Thanks!

I am not using this one specifically but I saw other members saying they were using it. The type is right and the speed is good too being a class 10.

Hello!

I am intending of getting a DAP (DX 100, A&K, HM-901) but thinking about my pocket most probably the DX 50 - 9th Batch will be shipped within this month.

Two months ago I wasn´t even aware of "things" like head amps, had never heard of DAC´s, ... I am new in this Hi-Fi world!

I have spent days - hours and hours of getting information on Headphones, headamps and portable headamps - all three items recently bought.

Now I am curious if this constant updating and fixing problems of the DX 50 will possibly come to an end?  I would love to have a DAP with resonable SQ, which I also could use at home to pair with my staionary amp. Plus more importantly run through a high quality DAC (or via Line Out thru Hi-Fi Amp´s AUX) for finally being albe to listen to files stored on the DX 50 via Loudspeakers as well.

What about the solution of using my smartphone with a portable DAC while travelling and using the laptop as a source with mentioned high quality DAC and loudspeakers instead?

Aren´t there to many updates, bugs reported, not playing this or that file, screen freezing, UI to slow,... - to really have a smooth listening experience?

DAP or no DAP is MY question...

Or you could get the HM901, PB2 and DB2 or some other bulky transportable amp + dac combo, strap them to your chest and look like a suicide bomber...

A stack eoukd be too big for the pocket...

I say DAP!

Alright, I can imagine the size of a stack like my HTC OneX+ & DAC/AMP vs. DX50. But what about the other aspects like UI, EQ, updating, time to load a song, screen freecing,... Is iBasso finally in control of the numerous bugs reported on threads? What about SQ of DX50 vs. Onex+ & Theorem 720?

still say DAP just because of pocket size?
