Unfortunately I did both ways.  The second time I extracted to my computers hard drive and copied it to the DX50 from there.  Once I'm recharged, I'll attempt to install re-downloaded FW, extracting the update.img to my PC, copying it to an empty DX50 root folder.  Hopefully that'll work!

hmmm, not sure if I had any files that was longer than 30 characters, but i never bothered to rename them before.

my file structure is:

microsd root/HD Music/Artist/Album/xx.flac
                  /Music/Artist/Album/xx.mp3

No, on the DX50, I first removed the SD-card.

seems like a good update. also, the smaller size is promising. wonder if it allows me to put some music on the internal storage without deleting it after some time...

p.s. Now iBasso need to give it a USB DAC function and this will be THE device people get...

I haven't yet discovered any apparent bugs on this version, but am still playing with the various features.

Nice I was waiting for the scroll bar before I update :) Now I will be a happy camper too!

My wife got me the bands with the hooks.  They are called Bandit by Quirky.  She found them at Target near the school supplies right before school started this year.

Also just found them found here.  http://www.quirky.com/products/105-Bandits-Rubber-Band-Hooks  There are more pictures at this website.

The black bands with the grey dots are Goody Slide-proof hair bands (or scrunchies, or whatever you call them).  The grey dots are actually little rubber pieces that keep it from sliding on the desk or whatever.  Got them at Wal-mart.  But should be available at any drug store, Target, Walmart.

I am probably one of the few bald men you will see standing in a Wal-Mart looking at hair bands and scrunchies.

I like the Bandit with the hook, because I have an RSA plug to 4 pin mini xlr cable made by Moon Audio that I keep attached to the amp all the time.  That is what the blue jumper is.  The hook keeps the jumper in place without putting extra stress on the RSA kobicon connector, and I bring it securely up beside the DX50.  (See I brought this back on topic.  Somewhat...)

So now it can read the album art without being tagged? for ex. folder.jpg or cover.jpg?

I'm a happy camper as well.  The current firmware takes the DX50 from a very good to great player.  I'm very happy with a properly implemented library scanning feature.  It went through my 64GB Sandisk microSD in less than 5 minutes.  Glad I waited 2.5 months for this.

I think iBasso is going to have a home run with the DX50.

Yes, completely agree.  If they make the screen a little less sensitive, they will get an A+ from me.

Looks like file sorting is fixed as well! Most annoying bug is now squashed, no more CopyInOrder!

Okay, totally random Q here.

I am impatiently awaiting arrival of my DX50 (seventh batch).

I currently use a rockboxed ipod classic playing high quality FLAC files, dock out and Fiio E7 amp, my cans are KEF M500 and Sennheiser Momentum.

What kind of differences and improvements can I expect with the DX50? Improved mids? more accurate bass?

Please whet my appetite even more.
