I'd email iBasso about that, as it's the first I've heard of that problem. I only use directory mode and can't say I've had that occur.

This happened some time ago. Ibasso wrote the error had you known he'd fixed in the next update.:mad:But the comparison. 1.2 does not fix the problem.

Just got my DX50 (5th batch) and I'm loving it! Coming from an iPod Touch, the differences are quite significant. The DX50 has considerably better instrument separation and detail, while its soundstage is more three dimensional. The bass texture is also much better and it is also less grainy in the upper midrange than the Touch. A superb DAP I must say! However, this is my first "audiophile" DAP since joining Head-Fi so this is just IMO.

Forgive me but I must ask a moronic question.

Can the D12 drive the HE-x00s well (assuming that is a D12 :3)?

No its a PB2, I've never tried the D12, but the PB2 works really well with the DX50 upstream and with HiFlight's TopKit. There's a lot of power considering its a portable and I'm driving it SE not balanced. It sounds almost as good as my desktop setup

Of course you can. Don't you know that the metal in Japan holds and releases 0s and 1s more accurately because the metal there are radioactive? Try it and believe it.

Has anyone tried listening straight from the line out rather than the headphone out of the DX50? I'm curious what the differences will be (if any).

hi everyone, there are 2 posts here from HK, they have made some mod to the DX50 and claimed that the SQ improvement is huge. I'm sorry that I can't really understand technically how they involved with the mods, I can read Chinese, but not really very well especially when comes to these technical stuffs. But very interesting of seeing these mods lurking around in HK forums :D I will try to translate these posts once I've time to find out more about these :)

Not even Google (using Chrome) is able to translate that page...

Directories are your friend, embrace them.

I can tell from the tone of your post that you don't have many friends. (this is a joke, I am sure you have many close and wonderful friends)

Yes, that is my system. See, computers work differently than humans. Because of this, folders aren't really all that necessary. Every jukebox program (iTunes, MM, Nightingale, etc.), iPods, Zunes, Sony Walkmen, the X3, and even iBasso's own player read this stuff in the music files called meta-data, and can sort your music based on that. It's why you have all those crazy browsing options.

As an aside, more firmware needs an "Album artist" sorting option the way that Rockbox does, that's pretty awesome.

Any way, I can use that same card in literally all of my media players that accept SD cards. Cool concept. None of them have any trouble. The one little issue is that on one file format, the DX50 chokes. Now, you seem to think it's OK for me to say, my software will do X, and then I sell you something that runs the software, and it actually only does what I said it does some of the time.

I am glad that you don't run iBasso, as they themselves have admitted is a bug, or at least it's something that they intend to fix. Now, you can get all hissy, or you can read the tone of both my posts, and see that I am really not that worried about it. Is it a bug? Yes. Is there an easy fix should they take a while to implement the fix? Relatively easy. I can replace the ogg files, if need be. But the easiest course for I, the consumer, is for iBasso to fix the bug. So I emailed them to ask about it. I then shared the rather humorous response with the forum, as I am not the only person asking about the ogg issue, and so it's helpful to others know that there is a fix on the way.

So. Any other questions?

Aah cool, I want one of those pretty badly, but they are completely replaced by the c5 right?

the c5 apparently has too much of a warm signature with my cIEMs.

Well in the first link the mod is to, replace the LPF op amp with an AD8620 op amp, this is the first chip that filters the DAC signal, He says with stock LPF there is low frequency issues with roll off, which the 8620 fixes and creates a flat frequency response. Then he replaces two of the Amp section op amps with AD 797 op amps, saying it has a more popular sound signature, probably a bit warmer and a bit bassier overall i'm guessing from my experience with ad8620 and ad797. Then he replaces stock capacitors with Elna 220uf caps, saying increasing the capacitance improves sound field, probably means sound stage, but the stock caps are also 220uf. so maybe he just thinks Elna sound better, or he didnt know the stock spec.

What would have been awesome is if iBasso had made all these opamps rollable, i would be in heaven if they did this, would save modders a lot of hassle, wouldn't really impact the cost of the player very much, and would allow every one to customize their sound, now I have to mess around with a soldering iron again.. ffs
