Not much fun. I think we're pretty lucky considering the amount we're all using audio gear though. :)

Need to take it like a man!

Fifth batch DX50 delivered today in SF, CA.  EDIT: firmware v.1.20 was factory installed.

Sounds very good so far--I ordered (and received) a SanDisk 64GB SDXC card, but forgot to order a card reader/writer, so I am using the internal storage for now; I am at work so I have, so far, only loaded two albums to DAP from USB thumb drive, both 24bit-96kHz.

I am using GoldfishX's eq settings on the bottom of page 68.

Headphones: ER4s and Phaeton PS500 (similar to MS500, but with titanium vaporized diaphragms = list price: $299, but I got mine for $99 from Amazon)

Volume level is not that great using ER4S, I have it set to max at 255, but it is not loud at all.

What would be the best portable amp for DX50 and ER4S?  (BTW: I tried to search the thread, but could not find any duiscussions of amps used for DX50 + ER4S)

Many thanks!

Volume set at 255 and still not loud? Are you sure you're using the headphone out ?

I used my er4p with 75ohm adapter, volume 230 in med gain is pretty loud for me...

gett it from mp4nation. they give you FREE barinwavz R3 earphones...

bugs are still there, but much less. it will power your m50 without any problem (it's powering much more demanding phones with ease). I'm not sure if pairing it with E7 will add anything (it may even degrade the sound a bit)

Yeah, mp4nation is safe. You can have it shipped with Fedex Priority to UK for free (1-5 day delivery) or standard airmail, which usually takes around 10 days to arrive to Europe. And at around $242 it's cheaper than getting it straight from ibasso as ibasso charges 22 bucks for the shipping to UK, so you're paying $20 more and you don't get a free iem. The R3 iem is brand new and there aren't that much people who got a demo unit but it has been hyped for its unique dual dynamic driver configuration.

How about DX50's line out?
Does it better than kenwood E8 or Fiio X3?
I would like to add iqube v1 or SR71a to drive my j-phonic k2 and ASG-1.

No problem buying from mp4nation. Site is safe. I bought my Fiio X3 from them and at the time received a free Brainwavz R1.

I am not sure how the R3's sound and fit. Did not read any reviews about them.

The R1's, though, are awful to me. I found them very uncomfortable and sound not so good. My ears hurt after 15-20min due to their shape.

And yes, it will power your ATH-M50 easily (personal experience).

whoever heard R3 liked it very much. it's a 110$ item for free. if you don't like it, you could always sell it...

Yes, definitely a great deal.

I guess I should've waited a few weeks more. Well, you know... it's the Head-Fi forum effect... :L3000:

Thanks.

The little iBasso D0 also sounds very nice when driven from the DX50 line-out. Punches way above its modest price.
