In just upgrade my Firnware from 1.1.6  to Firmware 1.2.0

After upgrade i have problem llike :

1.my DX 50 does not recognise all music

2.my DX 50 does not recognisd Album

First time i saw Album, If i choose this Album can not play

look like my DX 50 scan my music file not Correct with Firmware 1.2.0

Sound Quality different between Fw 1.1.6 vs Fw 1.2.0

Fw 1.1.6

High : more extended and clear and clean

Mid : more pronounce and full body and clearer

Bass : very Impact full and better Bass detail

Sepoarartion : better music separation, that the individual Instrument can hear more accurate

Soundstage : more wide and better Depth

Fw 1.2.0

High : lack in high like somebody play cymbals behind Curtain, feel smoother

Mid : not so clear like Fw 1.1.6 a bit boomy

Nass : less detail more to boomy bass

Separation : is not as good Fw 1.1.6 i can not detect so easy , like they play close to each other

Soundstage : is noit as wide Fw 1.1.6

at the end i put back my Fw 1.1.6

I can sleep now with my Fw1.1.6 :D

because dont have problem to play Album and All music

I enjoy to play album and all mnusic with FW 1.1.6

My IMO

Rudi, how does the DX50 hold up against your flagship DAPs?

Apparently the 5th batch has significantly more spacious and open sound compared to the 4th batch.. I'm curious on the difference between the 1st and 5th batch now

I don't feel good on this. We are end users, paying the same amount, regardless the 1st batch buyers or 6th. We aren't beta testers, or are we? Even though I'm glad that I'm in the 5th batch, but how about the future 7th, 8th and counting on? I mean this is pretty unfair to the earlier batches buyers if the improvements really exist one batch after another?? Or should I have hold on till it is fully "stabilized" with sound quality? I don't really feel great on this! Seriously.

I'm the kind of person that I don't like hearing the later batches of buyers claiming here that the sq has much improved again against my 5th batch. I hope everyone feels me!

I wouldn't worry too much. Manufacturing variance and/or the reviewer's imagination are both more likely explanations than some sudden and unexplained design change, in the middle of manufacturing, to create a wider soundstage. Audiophiles tend to have overly active imaginations ;-)

Every DAPs have their own strong and weak points
Nobody is perfect
In portable Audio and Home audio it is very important the SYNERGY one with another
From amps , DAC , DAP , cables

These are the ranking in my opinion :
Base on Price range and
Base on SQ and
as stand alone DAP and
flexibility to pair with different amps included my desktop amps and
External DAC and
Very important is your music file , I always use WAV for all my music files

Note : music file is very important to get excellent SQ
Can not compare MP3 file agains FLAC or WAV

IBasso HDP R10
AK 120
iPhone 4s
iPod Classic 7G 160 Gb
IBasso DX 50
AK 100
Hi Sound Studio V 3rd Edition
Hippo Biscuit
Sony Bluetooth NW 1

This my IMO

Mine could be 5 th Batch because I just received a few days a go LOL biggrin.gif

Please Enjoy your own DX 50 and please don't bother about the batch
Even from the same batch last week I and my friends have tested our DX 50 comparison have slightly SQ different .
For all electronic have always tolerance

Unless you buy high end home audio about 50 000 USD above , they measure one buy one the electronics part , that's why we pay more because they build 1 amps can take time 3 months until 1 year . biggrin.gif

Rudi, I changed the battery and it does seem to be better. Not sure if this is because of expectation bias though.

This is not bias this the truth biggrin.gif
If you want better SQ charge your Samsung battery use their desktop charger
You can compare again you charge direct to your DX 50

Yesterday, after listening again to my friend DX50 with Samsung "Genuine" Galaxy S3 Battery (GT-19300), below is my comment:

1) The sound level (loudness) appears to be much higher even at low gain setting comparing to stock battery

2) Sound stage appear to be wider and spacious and deeper

3) The clarify has improved.

4) Better separation between vocal & instruments

5) The treble and bass have much impact

Sorry for my layman kind of explaining.

I believe the S3 battery help to improve the performance of Op-Amp in the circuitry like what Rudy mentioned.

This means the samsung battery is provided more voltage and current as I suspected.

wow, now this is getting hard to believe :P , but it is still believable, the desktop charger charges at 4.2v, while going through the DX50 might only be 3.~v this would affect the output voltage of the battery in the end.

But where can one buy a genuine Samsung S3 battery?

Aren't most of the ones sold online fake anyway?
