Somebody really should make a DX50 FAQ page like the one we have for the DX100...

Damn it guys, we NEED to press iBasso to implement the same feature. if fiio can do it, iBasso can do it more. either this, or iBasso will lose some sales over X3...

Perhaps it would be better first to implement a stable firmware. To eliminate the bugs. Before the clamor comes to additional functions.

Even the firmware is piecemeal and unstable.

It was Ibasso intention of bringing an immature product on the market, the lack of instructions, is a strong indication that it is so. If all the functions, usability was clear a manual would have it located and the functions were specified.

Why is the new firmware is not yet listed on the website?

Because they were focusing on eliminating bugs and implementing a stable firmware, rather than updating websites and writing documentation?

I wanted to try one and compare it against my AK120 to see whether there is actually $700 worh of sound difference to my ears. Mainly bought about by the fact that my iPhone 5 drives the AUD-8x exceedingly well and sounds amazing......it's made me question the benefit of a $1000+ DAP.

My only concern is that with the AK120 I get 192Gb of memory (64Gb Internal & 2 x 64Gb Micro SD Cards) - The DX50 only has 8Gb internal memory and 1 card slot. I really dont want to have to keep swapping SD cards around when I want to listen to something :-(

I have seen mentioned on here that some people have said you can use USB Flash Drive with the DX50...how does this work?

Does it need to be a specific type of USB Flash Drive?

How does it connect to the DX50?

Would I be able to use a 128Gb USB flash drive with the DX50?

Hope someone can answer these questions :-)

IMHO the more expensive an item is the less value you get in terms of money to quality ratio, so no I don't think you'll get a 700$ difference in sound. There is definitely an improvement but not that high.

The USB OTG featured is use when you have any flash drive that has a usb output (which is pretty much every flash drive) and all you need is a female USB to a mini USB connector and connect it to your flash drive and the mini usb to the Dx 50 and BAM!

Yes, you can definitely use a 128GB flash drive on the DX 50 however it may or may not lag depending on your tags and album art that you have stored in your songs. Technically according to iBAsso it can even support up to 2TB micro SD card.

Thanks for that chee006, It now all makes sense.

So it will now come down to how good I think the DX50 sounds compared to the AK120 and how buggy the DX50 Firmware is.

how is the tonality in dx50 ?

is the hiss issue a hardware fault or its truly based on IEM?

first comes the development then come the tests, then it is documented and placed on the market.

a finished product with documentation, which uniquely identifies the product and clearly describes the function.

With the introduction of DX50 that was not so, and I said it was intentional.

By the way, a development without documentation is not complete and faulty

For anyone using and SD card with the ibasso, and using the v1.2 firmware: Do not use CopyInOrder to put all the maps on the SD card. The player will not scan more than 3-4 maps. I just had to wipe the SD card, and copy all my music the standard way.

Btw, this firmware really isn't that bad. My hisoundaudio rocoo p player is way longer on the market, and its firmware is 10x worse.

Me neither but I won't protest... X3 was also buggy at first, it is still buggy in some instances, but they not only solved lots of problems, they also added features. don't let iBasso think that only solving bugs is sufficient for good sales.

@Marleybob217.  Can you elaborate on this a little?  I  have copied all of my FLAC-16/44 files with CopyInOrder to the microSD card and have not run into scanning issues yet.  I eject my card from the player and use the uSD to SD adapter and a port on the front of my PC tower.  I did it this morning before work.  I select the artist folders and It copied 6 albums in a couple of minutes.

When I put the uSD card in the player, it flashed scanning for a hot second and went to the initial screen to choose scan card or search music.  I chose scan card.  It scanned for maybe 15 to 20 seconds, and then finished.  When I looked at my artists directory, all the artists showed up, and I checked 4 of the 6 albums, and all the files were there in order.

I've done the copy in order process about 4 times total without incident for about 20G of FLAC on a 64G card.  I have not truncated any file names yet.  Everything ripped from CD with dB Poweramp.

What are the maps you mention?  I'm not familiar.  Are those MP3s that got auto-type-corrected?  If so, that could be a difference than FLAC.  But I wouldn't think so.

Are you copying directly to the SD card while still installed in the DX-50?  If so, that could be a difference as well.  I have never done that method yet.

Also agree about the FW v1.2.  For the way I use it, I have not experienced significant issues.  I only play whole albums that I ripped from redbook standard with dB poweramp and copied with CopyInOrder.

I've loaded 64gigs of music onto my card using CopyInOrder and everything just works?
