Not sure why you have hiss... I use the v6's from 1964 ears and can't detect any noise/hiss... Might be the source material.

Although the amplifier sections are nearly identical, there will always be a slight difference in SQ as a result of the extremely high input impedance of the external amp. Most have an input impedance of anywhere between 25K and 50K ohms. The differences would likely be more apparent when using a DAP that has a high output impedance. As the DX50 has an output impedance less than one ohm, one would not expect to hear significant differences when using an iBasso amplifier.

its not the source material because its constant whether playing music or not.  I guess it has been said that were stuck with the hiss as trying to get rid of that apparently, will make the dx50 lose its ability to be as good as it is.  Oddly, it is now least apparent on high gain.

Having the D12, it depends how you pair it; either as a transport through the coax out-in or just the LO-LI and yes the dual dacs make a huge difference in the sonic representation for both setups, the more revealing being that dac option.

Received my DX50 yesterday from the 4th batch.  Charged it overnight, and I was going to upgrade the FW first, but decided to just jump right in and quit being so ARetentive about stuff and try it out.  It came with 1.1.6 FW.

So far I am extremely pleased.  I can recommend the build quality and UI out of the box.  I have only listened to 2 albums into my process, but so far so good.  This is my first non- iDevice.  For those who read this thread and the bug thread and are undecided, my experience has been entirely positive so far.

Here is what I have done up to this point:

1.  Plugged it into the computer.  I was getting the constant "auto-discovery-ding" from my Windows 7 computer.  It just kept on going.  So I unplugged it, turned DX50 on, and plugged it in again.  Seemed to take care of the issue.  There were some weird messages about not having drivers and not recognizing, but in the end, it shows up as DX50 on the computer as a drive with 5.6G of internal memory and I can see a couple of directories.

2.  Plugged brand new 64G micro SD card into card reader slot on computer.  After a minute, it showed up as a drive.  (I was going to plug it into the DX50 and transfer that way, but yesterday someone suggested not doing that.  So I went directly to slot on computer.)

3.  Downloaded Copy In Order program.  Used that to copy 8 directories (12 albums).

4.  In advanced settings, I changed gapless setting to 10 seconds, changed time out to 30 minute, plugged uSD card into DX50, and let it scan.  (Don't know how long it took.  Started it before I left for work.  When I got to work and powered it up, the albums were there.)

All 12 albums are in the album listing with artwork and all 12 are in the directory.

I did not do anything special with the tags or the artwork.  My tags are created by DB Poweramp when I rip, and then I copy 800x800 artwork into the file with Media Monkey.  That is about it.

I am listening at work with Grado RS1i.  Sounds fine right out of the box at medium setting.  I can definitely hear when it is paused vs when it is off.  But it is not distracting.  And I would not even call it "hiss" or noise.  It is simply the sound of an amp with nothing playing.  I didn't even really notice it until the album ended and it went "dark."  Have not tried iem yet.  YMMV, etc.

@Breadvan.  Before re-tagging a bunch of stuff, try the Copy In Order suggestion from Sorensiim.  Playing in order has worked fine for me on the 2 albums I listened to thus far.  And I know that it would have driven me @peSh*t if the songs were out of order.  So I plan to use copy in order until someone says that it is no longer an issue.

And I would really like to thank everyone on these 200 pages of posts and the 50 pages of bug posts.  I would have never known about the copy in order program, and would have probably transferred with the card plugged in.  So thanks for the help.  Will let you know how the update goes after I do that.  Remember that this is all in-my opinion, and your mileage may vary, and all that good stuff.

Anyone reply to this request? I'm also considering pairing the Alclair Reference with the DX50 and would greatly appreciate anyone comments. Cheer!

Well.. I got it!

It looks so good and the sound is amazing!

Question: I want to pair it with my ALO NATIONAL AMP, which out goes to the amp? the phone out,  the line out or the Coaxial out? I didn't had a line out on the cowon s9 and that's why I'm asking....

Before I post this, let me apologize, I usually despise "tracking" posts, LOL. But ibasso/ DHL seems to have bungled the 4th batch shipping somehow.

So...

Has anyone in the US received their 4th batch unit? My tracking still shows "shipment information received".

I emailed ibasso and got the response that has been posted here before- that the courier may have changed the tracking number, and my unit should be on its way. DHL says as far as they know the package is sitting in China and nothing else is showing in their system in my name. frown.gif

So just wondering if anyone in the US has received their DX50 while the tracking still says "information received". Thanks

The line out or the coax out if your amp has a coax in but then it would have to have a DAC built in.

OK. line out, great.

when i listened via the line out the with my headphones, the volume seemed lower. is this by default or the line out holds different values for the out put?

The volume control works with the line out. Turn it up to 250 and see what that does.

This is one of those weird volume controlled line out. The volume level is lower than the headphone out and when you change one, the other follows . It is not separate so be careful when you crank the LO and plug the headphones on the HO line you might deafen yourself.

Or worse yet crank it for the LO and forget you also have the gain on max when you plug back into the HO.:basshead:

Thanks guys.

The lower volume was real strange to me but as long as it as designed than I don't have a problem with it.
