Just tell your company you are sick of waiting for the DX50 and need to take a sick leave.

While at school today, I accidentally inserted my plug into the LO, instead of HP, port. I was rewarded with a background with maybe 80% less hiss. Better yet, this output is also volume controlled...

If this action may in fact be damaging to one's headphones, please feel free to speak up.

It would just sound weird as there is no amplification at all. Also, I've read that it damages headphones.

Not it's not, the LO is unusual on the DX50 because of being volume controlled so we think it bypasses the amp although to me the sound is very similar so not sure how they wired that port, maybe out of the dac output. Bottom line you are not going to hurt your iems. I have connected mine a few times by accident and they still work strong. I find the HO port louder at the same volume level than the LO.

not sure about the damage but the sound sure is tinny as hell without any weight or authority

Somehow I missed the lack of bass and tinny sound the first go at the LO. smily_headphones1.gif
Is anyone using what they might consider a "neutral" high end CIEM? I'd rather not purchase a UERM and deal with a boatload of hiss.

Mine arrived this morning.  I ordered through mp4nation early last week so pretty nice turn around.  I'm assuming it's a batch 4.  Upgraded to 1.2   There is a playlist option but haven't figured out how to use it yet.  Still need to get all the way through the thread.

So far with about 6 hours of playtime on it, I'm still mixed on the audio quality, although it does seem to be improving / growing on me.    I'm driving primarily a set of UM Miracles running 16/44 flacs.  Quality wise right now it is above my HTC one-x phone with PowerAmp playing the same flacs, but below my d10 cobra (which has a *lot* of hours on it)  being fed by optical from winamp.    Definitely giving up on detail and spaciousness from best to worst in the three above.   I'm definitely experiencing some randomness in the ui on 1.2.  Like choosing genres sending me to now playing.   On the from factory 1.1.6 version I experienced several cases where the song would play with no audio output and I had to reset the player to get audio on the same track.  Haven't seen that on 1.2.  I saw the volume bug that others have reported but on turning down.   It turned all the way down to zero and then wouldn't change without a reset.

someone said here that iBasso recommended 200 hours of burn in. I'm not sure he wasn't just joking, but after several days of use, it sounds better to me.

Yes I do know that but it's a tight fit, after several attempts it will pop out.

I love this Dap!

it seems my 4.ai are just too sensitive for the dx50 and hisses on every gain level. Has anyone come up with an idea to combat the hiss of sensitive IEMs other than trying another IEM or using an amp?

I find it strange that you guys are getting so much hiss. I get only a very small amount using my JH5 which are really sensitive, none using ASG-2.

Would one of those Etymotic ER4P to ER4S adaptors help? I though about it, but grabbed a pair of H-200 for portable use instead.

I get the tiniest amount of hiss with my AX-7.
