I will be ordering mine this weekend, unfortunately I will have to wait for batch #5, I'm OK with that. Can't wait to finally get this and listen to my X3 and DX50..

Well, DHL has brokerage fees just as FedEx and UPS does. I was afraid that even if it was an RMA unit, it would have to be brokered through customs so they would charge me $15 again. I was not entirely sure on this so I decided not to take the chance and go with EMS/Postal service since they do not ever charge for brokerage fees, and since it's declared as $20, I won't incur any taxes or duties either.

I would have though so as well but apparently EMS is just as fast as DHL when it comes from China to Canada. DHL came the third day from shipment, and EMS came the third day as well, which was today, but no one was home to take the package so I must pick it up tomorrow.

You could just buy one from someone else in the US, like I did.

Anyone have any ideas?

Kevin

^ Patriot Gauntlet Node will work for you. It is a portable battery powered drive enclosure.

WOOOOOO! 100th post! LOL

hmmmm so DHL is guaranteed brokerage fees? if thats the case, i'd rather EMS and get it handed over to Canadapost. I hope its not too late, the 4th batch should be shipping soon!

Not bad now that I have the DX50. The Studio-V has given me nothing but problems. I'm getting ready to send the Studio-V to China for the 4th time. I hope the PFE232 works out for ya! It sounds wonderful, but was too fatiguing for me.

Yes, I'm afraid any third party service is guaranteed to charge for brokerage fees, UPS's being retardedly high, while FedEx Express maintains 10.00 ROD fee + duties and taxes on the $20.

Congrats! :)

I'm just sitting here depressed a little. I listened to my friend's ASW Genius 400 speakers and now literally all my music from all my gears sound pale in comparison and nothing really impresses or satisfies me anymore. Ears have been spoiled....

Well many of us at head-fi appreciate head-fi because we can't afford the equivalent "open room" system.  The first time I heard a roided out Linn system is when I sought out this community because it gave me audiophile options within my budget,  For the price the DX50 is a worthy entrant to the portable DAP field.  At the same time I can't help being a bit disappointed because I wanted the DX100 sound without the wifi and other bells and whistles (including the amp that can make my HD650s sing).  Unfortunately it falls short of that but still better than most I've heard.

Does anyone know if the DX50 can play 88kHz/24bit files?
