Yes I'm aware, it doesn't solve my problem unfortunately, as that's only double handling and needing to remember something that can be done automatically. I see one of the options is to keep the screen on for 10 minutes. Who wants to keep their screen on for 10 minutes? I listen a lot laying down at night in the dark and would prefer the screen to go off at a shorter interval, by all means, it's not a desperate thing I need, nore am I complaining,. I would much prefer iBasso focus on what's needed.

As for the screen staying off when you press a button, again to my preferences it's not needed to come on as it just wakes up the screen and wastes power when all I wanted to do was change the volume a few steps, maybe an option can be made to choose between wake up or leave screen off. in the power management.

Haha. It's not a complaint. Now go out there and buy one, satisfy your curiosity ;-)

Coz we AK1x0 users had bigger things to complain about....  j/k

But yea given it's price you should just buy one and listen for yourself... a guy at my local jaben joked he could have bought the dx50 just for the shipping cost he paid to get the ak100 and then the rwak then the S mods.....

Nah, we can wait a bit longer with that mid-autumn festival in China right now. And also ibasso and mp4nation are both out of stock for now. I'll probably go with mp4nation as with the extra points I have on their site the dx50 will probably come to around $230 with free shipping and a free brainwavz m4 or m5.

No, do not listen to this man, iBasso! :p However, an option in settings would solve this for people who enjoy not being blinded at night when listening to the DX50.

Is anyone putting together a review that will compare different amps with the DX50? All this amp talk is making my wallet hide.

Hey. Jokes aside, I have posted a working method to flash the firmware with the file loaded on a microSD card. More convenient I think, and the flashing process went smoothly. Updated in under 2 minutes. Can check it out at http://www.head-fi.org/t/680472/dx50-bug-list-wish-list-fix/420_30#post_9816949.

The easiest way to hear it is to switch thw unit on with your iem's in place. There is first a loud pop when you switch the unit on, then you will hear some hiss on low gain. If yoy move the slider to medium gain, it will get just a bit quieter. I cannot detect a difference in volume between medium and high gain using ATH-CLR100.

I can hear a pop/click sound from the DX50 itself, even without any headphones inserted. Both when the DX50 turns on and turns off.

Do you get that too?

Never had problems updating firmware.  Just throw it in the root of the DX50 internal memory, unmount, system update, let it do its thing, system reset after.  Put in your music on sd card afterwards and let it scan, finished.

Guess that's a good alternative for people that can't get the update to take normally, booting Android recovery.

On the hiss front.....I am fairly sure it's normal behavior for sensitive IEMs.  "Hiss" might be the wrong word, it's more like a faint background hum that you won't detect until you plug the in the headphone jack....and yeah, the surroundings would need to be pretty darn quiet for you to hear this.  Mine is consistent with the ones reported here, changing to higher gain lowers the hum/hiss and volume attenuation does not affect the hum/hiss.  My definition of a black background is essentially you hear the same "nothingness" with the headphone plugged in or not plugged in.....there is no sssssssssssssss type of hissing sound from the dx50.  Just want to clarify.

I haven't used mine long enough to experience the volume bug. is there a way to limit the volume? what should i set the gain switch for then?

afraid to use it at this point, i value my ears. hope they fix this soon.

Yup. There's no hiss in the sense of interference that goes zzzz....zzzz....zzz.....

I think we have the same observation. That faint, but to me distinct, blanket of consistent noise you get when a pair of sensitive IEM is plugged in. Stays consistent with or without music.

I would describe it as very low level hiss, or mabe background noise/hiss, but it's definitely not a hum.

To me, it sounds like normal gain stage distortion. Seriously, there's no such thing as a silent gain stage.

Yes. Probably a relay to protect sensitive iems. Same as X3.
