Nah, it's not limited. Mp4nation likes to add extras and discounts on other products to some of their more expensive offerings just like with the X3, which also comes with a free iem.

Btw, mp4nation is now also selling dx50 ($239) and comes with a free pair of Brainwavz M4 or M5, free fedex to select countries or just free Singpost shipping for the other countries. Still a bit better bargain then straight from ibasso coz shipping's free and you get a free iem.

unless you have to pay customs taxes

:D

Oh, I didn't know that. In that case, it's a great deal!

Great deal! Thanks, but I think that IEM deal is only for a limited amount of time. I listened to the X3 and it was lacking a lot next to the DX50. It was darker and the DX50 was cleaner and had a larger soundstage with more detail.

The build quality of the X3 is more solid though, I cannot deny that even though I really like the DX50. IT does look much better than the X3, especially with that err case that looks like a .... Well you know what it looks like, just look at the past few pages.

James Fiio posted a link to some Chinese review that compared many DAPS including those two and that review said the opposite thing. makes me wonder if there is some kind of variances in production or if it's just the case of taste (although I'm not sure how discerning cleaner sound has anything to do with taste

Well, for me it's more likely to get taxed if ups, fedex and even ems, so it's nice to have the option to just have it send with singapore post, which most of the time goes under the radar and is already pretty fast

Depends on the firmware though...

It said that the DX50 was darker or the X3 was better?

Also, link pls?

Summary: DX50 in sound compared with their respective characteristics X3: X3 more transparent, detail flavor better, DX50 LF more soft and dull some more open sound field. For those considering the purchase of DX50 and X3 are other factors: 1, DX50 has a sophisticated appearance more beautiful, replaceable batteries, longer battery life, touch and physical buttons are very easy maneuverability. 2, X3 support CUE, smaller volume and weight (lighter than AK100), coordinates relative to a wider choice ear.

Well, different people have different tastes and also different gear, so synergy also comes into play when making a decision which is better. Anyway, even James from Fiio said that with all the things dx50 has, it should cost like 300 bucks, so I guess even he acknowledges that it's a bargain. As far as that review quoted above, there have already been a bunch of people saying that dx50's low end is on the soft side.

At the same time when people make comments about the low end being on the softer side? Isn't the X3 a warm and bassy player?

That's what I though after listning to it a few hours ago at the Noisy Motel.

Also, how is the Studio V going along? Felt the urge to upgrade yet?

he didn't say that. http://www.head-fi.org/t/651769/fiio-x3-thread-full-review-http-www-head-fi-org-t-663600-impression-fiio-x3-high-fi-low-price/5100#post_9799472

Just picked up mine, very respectable casing, feels solid. Without studying it in details, there's only a Micro SD slot on it, why do they advertise SDXC compatibility, or was the slot hidden somewhere ? On the way home so no time to check it out thoroughly.

Raally? How is "$299 would have been a fair price for the DX50" any different?

I think you are misreading his post... that post was quoted from another forumer.

James comment is only "the most funny thing I have saw in head-fi."

He didn't mention anything about the price or comparison
