Also, Canada doesn't have any rules about battery imports I believe. That or they just don't really care. I've NEVER had a package rejected or held by customs for years of countless shipments. It's just China and Japan whose rules for shipping batteries is finicky.

Hi GG, I think you may have missed an earlier post by a fellow Canadian head-fier concerning his DX50 not being accepted due to batteries. I'm guessing the import rules may have recently changed. Hopefully you're right and they don't open my package and iBasso marked the proper value down. If they just tag the duties onto the package without opening it then I lucked out. I'll probably find out via tracking info on Monday when the custom agents return to work from the weekend.

Waah?! Is that so? I must've missed it. I know someone said their package via EMS didn't LEAVE China because of batteries... Hmm...

I myself payed $17 via DHL. $14 in brokerage, etc. fees, and $3 in tax lol.

Fingers crossed!

DHL is private so anyone using it should be good. With EMS I may be screwed if Canada Post decides to reject it.

I usually don't write reviews, but I hope that will be useful to some people.

Good read thanks. What class is your sd card?
Also anyone tried different classes and brands to see how long the DX500 takes to scan?

Hi guys, just received my DX50. When I pushed the power button, it says CHARGED. I'm not sure if it is fully charged since after a while, the screen went blank. When I push the power button, again there is a small green circle with the word CHARGED in it. Problem is I cannot access the menu. Also, will the charger for DX100 work with DX50? Hope to hear from our experts here. Cheers

The first thing I would do in that situation is try a battery pull. (remove the battery and reinsert it)

So whats the verdict?

From peoples (early impressions) I gather in terms of sound quality (not counting, build or UI).

Hifiman-901

DX100

DX50/AK120

RWAK100

AK100

Fiio X3

ipod/cowon/sansa clip etc

*Tera player omitted.

______________________________

The above list is not an accurate list, but is gathered from various DX50 and X3 posts.

*Please order the Daps in order of preference.

*Only include Daps you have actually listened to.

*include any extra information you feel is relevant.

and

Thanks.

I don't think it's quite that simple. They are both very good. But right now, I'm still leaning toward my AK100, admittedly one of Vinnie's. Then there is firmware version. Just about everyone has an opinion on which FW is best on the AK, Listrid or iRiver's? And then there is the commentary already over the DX50 1.0 or 1.1.5? Anyone with a DX100 will tell you they have a favourite FW sound.

I think the right answer is more like... "The one you like best"...

PS I think we are all in the honeymoon period with our DX50s. Even if the UI is driving me nuts, I am enjoying trying out with various phones and IEMs. I think I'm a way of deciding whether it's a keeper.
