The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.4 - January 24, 2016 - Page 96

Guys, sorry I was not at home so I couldn't provide link for the X3/C4 discussion but thanks to friendly members, it is already posted in here. As I said, why shouldn't I be serious? I just write what I read, I didn't listen to any of these daps. I was actually close to order C4 long time ago (that thing looks awesome IMO) but after reading comments about it I decided not to buy. In head gear section I saw many people who reviews the dap and disappears from head-fi. I found it kind of misleading for readers. I think you got what I mean.

Anyway, I really prefer to stop the discussion here, since the link is already provided too. The thread is for DX50 so let's keep it like that.

As a SE5way owner, after reading Gavin's comment about how good they pair, I simply get extremely interested in the dap again. However I still prefer to see it's final state (bug free and functioning correctly) to make a decision.

Also, I would like to read Sorensiim's thoughts about how it compares to its big brother DX100.

Yay!

How does one change the batteries?

Slide the back cover off, remove the battery and replace it. The back cover on my DX50 seems quite stiff, and takes a good amount of force to slide off.

About the back cover...if I were to dual lock it, would pulling in the dual lock cause the back cover to come off? Or is it that sturdy?

Thanks mate, I don't mind analytical or clinical when the time suits, but I understand exactly what you're saying because sigs like that tend not to be terribly versatile. I have a funny feeling  IHIFI 760 (which is still coming btw) might be better suited to ER4S, give them some musicality and a hint of warmth as the Studio V I use with ER4S makes the entire signature sound rather clinical. the pairing has strong technical ability such as detail extension and, separation but really only suits certain genres.

So for you going off memory do you prefer the sound of DX50, or the sound of IHIFI 760 you demo'd?

760 is better. I will wait for a new Ibasso firmware for music changes. Couple of days/weeks. If nothing grand to my ears, i will buy 760. I want to sing and dance with my favourite music. 760 is really very very good.
Studio is little on a melodic side, it is not so clinical like DX50. Ibasso have made a super player for that money, maybe i will try to find some better phones to suit my DX50. 760 is not so good in ergonomics, it is bulky and heavy, but ok in your jeans pocket with belt:)

Xuelin 760 sounds better. Maybe iBasso will give us some new little more warm and energetic sounding firmware, or me need to use more warm IEMs. Don't have a lot of free time for searching.

PS

Anyone tried Sennheiser IE6-80? I think that combo should be very good.

PPS
One my friend tried Vsonic VSD1 and said that combo was sounding for 1000$

Why do you not use the EQ to get the SQ you prefer? It works nicely on the DX50.

All EQ kills a good sound

Edit

In My Opinion
lol

There is a very easy and safe way to slide it off, it's all in the way you hold it when you do.

see the photos on how to do it. now mind you i am alone right now and no one to take a pict with both hands so just imagine you grab it with your both hands.

basically grab the dap with the back facing you but in the upside down position from one hand (see the first pic) then grab the back plate with your thumb on one side and the middle finger on the other, rest your index on the backplate to give it leverage (second pic) then gently slide the plate by moving one hand up and the other down until it clears the tab. Finally lift up and you are done smily_headphones1.gif

For the battery, I just turn the dap down with my one hand underneath it to catch the battery and I slightly dislodge it by just giving a little thrust forward and the battery just falls off by gravity.

To put the plate back on, just the reverse operation using the same hand positioning technique explained above.

I think you're going to like the SQ of the 760.  It's really a pleasure to listen to.

Looking forward to it myself, hopefully a few days time 760 should arrive before my DX50, then I can form an opinion between the two.

I am currently using the DX50 + Pico Slim and based on my memory, the DX100 (unamped) is a league above the DX50 (note that my DX50 only has about 20hours).

However, when the DX100 was just released, the SQ wasn't fantastic either. It was through many firmware revisions that the DX100 became the polished gem it is known for today.

I certainly hope that the DX50 will follow the same path.
