I have already checked your review, it was the reason why I'm interested in the AX7s in the first place :) what about the monster turbine pro gold? I haven't had a chance to try those with the DX50 yet :frowning2:

I haven't heard the MTPG but the DX50 pairs very well with the AX7 since it is a bit bass heavy and the AX7 is a bit bass light.

I need to find someone who has the AX7 and actually listen to them then because they are a sexy pair of IEMs.

I probably need to update my profile to reflect that :)

If anyone in the US isn't happy with their DX50, I would gladly take it. I'll be setting up an official WTB once I get home.

How do the Astrotec AX7, Fisher Audio DBA-02 MK2 and Etymotic ER-4P/S sound with the iBasso DX50?

I'm using a pair of reshelled DBA02 mk1, very sensitive and picks up some background noise. Least noticeable on mid gain after spending even more time with it, but will be noticeable if you have sensitive ears like me. The screen also creates some sort of very high pitch sound which will probably be unnoticed by most people, but strangely only when the screen is off. Same thing, least artefacts like these on mid gain.

Sound wise, pretty decent. Typical slightly bright and airy sound with good sound stage (width, depth and height). Separation is great too, but that is very track dependent. For example, Les Mis can give very good imaging and separation even though I have it as a 160kbps mp3. Stronger and tighter bass with the DX50 compared to more mainstream DAPs, but was initially a little too strong for me and gave me headaches at moderate volume. It's not bloated or muddy, just very impactful and still controlled. Got used to the bass now so it feels less "thumpy". Mids are slightly recessed which was usually a little more forward. Highs are still high.

I swapped my left and right cable around and it feels like I managed to bring the MIDs forward and the highs and lows slightly backwards =D does mess up some of the live albums though. It feels like I am standing with or slightly behind the band and facing the audience with them. Not sure if that's just my mind playing tricks on my after I swapped the left and right channels.

On the other hand, some 320mbps pop songs can sound rather confused. My flacs are Ok, but i think it has more to do with the mastering than the compression. Gapless plays fine too.

I agree with Soren, the Heir 4Ai's sound great with the DX100 and the DX50. I'm going to be getting a set of PF232's again by the end of the week and I'll report on that pairing.

I think iBasso did too good on the DX50. You can't touch sound this good for anywhere near the price. The ak100 can't touch it even modified imo. It will be very hard to top this.

I'm glad to hear this, I ordered the DX50 primarily hoping it would make a good pairing with my 8.A, which is source-fussy due to it's coloration.

However, this last week I've been primarily using my 4.A CIEM after a month or two not using it, and I forgot how much I enjoy it.

Hearing the 4.A/ A.i is a good match increases my chances at having a good pairing here.

Does anyone getting a popping noise before they press play. This only happens once once you start up the system though..
