The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.5.0 - Page 279

I just received my DX50.  Right away I am very excited for the possibilities of this player.  I listened line out in my vehicle and it was so much smoother and more hifi than any ipod or iphone I have used before.  I have spent a little time listening to my friends AK100 in the vehicle and this is on par with it.  It's a little brighter sounding I turned the treble setting down one notch but it has the same spacious and open sound as the AK100 with maybe a hint more punch in the bass.  Overall I am really impressed initially and considering it's 1/3rd the price of the AK100 I'm happy with the purchase.

I am wondering is there a way to arrange playlists with songs in a certain order within the DX50.  I see it will play albums in their intended order but when I drag in a playlist it puts all songs that are 1st in an album 1st and the 2nd ones 2nd and so on.  I would love to be able to get this to play song in the order I choose.

I have only listened with the line out in my vehicle.  I'll try it tomorrow with my Shure 535 headphones.  I have lots of experience with some very hi end home stereo gear but this is my first jump into portable hifi listening.  I'm looking forward to digging deeper.  I spent a lot of time reading through these forums before deciding to go ahead and purchase the DX50.  So far I'm not disappointed.

"Yes. The iBasso DX50 will come with 12 months warranty. If there is any problem with the unit, you would need to contact us and we will help you.
Thank you

I've edited the post to add in the info :) The cables were bought from PlusSoundAudio, it is the copper type. I DIY the cable myself along with other accessories bought from either the mentioned site or Qables :)

Player: DX50

External amp: Meier Audio Quickstep

Headphone: Vision Ears (Compact Monitors) Stage 3 custom IEM

Cables: Line cable is DIY from Qables silver cable, CIEM cable is DIY from Plus Sound Audio copper cable

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I'm not gonna leave much comments though as DX50 is still very new and I'm not a good one writing reviews too. I do not have nor I do not prefer to own multiple equipments like many do as a hobby :). I always test on stuffs of what I wish for or go for something that absolutely suit my need. So, I was amazed with the Vision Ears Stage 3 and it is now the only CIEM with me at all time. Same with the Meier Audio Quickstep and it will surely end my portable rigs for an external amp matching with the ultra sensitive CIEM. I absolutely love this amp.

Now comes to the DX50, as I've mentioned, I'm not going to leave much comments. But one thing for sure I can share my experience with, is the difference between the phone out and line out. I bought the DX50 purely as a line out source, I've never bother to look into much if the built in amp behaved well or not, I bought the DX50 because it has a line out. And I can pretty much confirm that the line out is a way huge improvement over the headphone out. It is just so obvious which make me even so of not bothering with the headphone out which I've not been intended to use with the DX50. But I'll reserve the statement when I need to bring along just as minimum as possible during vacations. :)  Also, the only comments I can give to the DX50 is, it is quite bass heavy and slightly towards brighter side to me. Probably it is kind of getting use to, or maybe the player really requires 200 hours of burning in before really judging it. Whatever it is, and whether burning in does exist, the player will be burning hot with the rest of my babies day by day till it reaches 200 hrs. :D I realize that the enhanced bass and the extra brightness is more obvious with poorer recordings but the player behaves real well with high resolution audiophile recordings. So far, I'm really pleased with its high resolution and sonically excellent performance. I think it is worth for what I've paid for :)

Nice! I have a 6th batch DX50 on the way and also plan to use it with the Quickstep. Glad that you like the combination.

The best synergy for amps until 500 USD with DX 50

Source : IBasso DX 50 as transport
I use DX 50 line out
Firmware : 1.1.6
File music : WAV
Amp :Tralucent Audio T1
Iem : Earsonic SEM 6
Headphone : Fostex TH 900
Cable : mini to mini diy by my friend Alex

My impression :

I have many Portable Amps until 500 USD , my Tralucent Audio T1 has the best with my DX 50

High : very clear and clean , very good detail , and very good pronounce until we can hear
Percussion cymbals very detail .

Mid : very sweet , clean and clear sounding midrange that we can hear how the Sanger breath

Bass : excellent bass impact , very good speed and bass attach .
We can hear the snare bass guitar very clear with the echo how the player play their
Bass guitar

Soundstage : wide and with very good depth as well

Separation : very good separation , that we can imagine where the instrument coming from.

Background : very black background , that we feel in concert hall

Conclusion :

This is the best synergy between my DX 50 and T1, like DX 50 born for T1
Excellent clarity and sweet clear midrange and very good bass impact and veery good bass speed
I love these set up , even can drive my TH 900 in high end SQ

This is my IMO

Yes ...and it deserves a good source. I am hoping that the DX50 fits the bill.

@rudi, which is better on sq between DX50+PB2 vs DX50+T1?
Since I can't get 2nd hand D12 in our country.

cool thnx :)

it's almost impossible to find tips that fit earsonics iem's without any adapter ..

been looking to replace my old Cowon S9 but nothting caught my eye and the high end one's are to darn expensive for me, until i saw the reviews on the dx50,

perfect price-perfomace-24/96 support ratio and exacly what i was looking for.

If your Ibasso PB2 stock + DX 50 through coax out or for fair comparison line out

Than T1 + DX 50 is better more clarity and more balance in all frequencies

If like my PB2 mod with HiFlight kit + DX 50 through coax out is better than

T 1 + DX 50

These two set up from the sound character has different to each other

T1 more clarity and detail

PB2 is strong in mid and to warm sounding

The other ear tips I use for my SM 64 v1 is silicon Eartips from Shure , but for SEM6 westone star tips is the best for me:D
