Is it possible the first battery in it was off by maybe 0.3V to 0.5V but can still otherwise run the device, and that's how  it was not detected as an issue? Then it's just the amp that feels it since it's ultimately at the end of the circuit?

yes this can occur, a lower quality battery will drop faster from its rated voltage spec as it is being drained. This Is why I'm trying out the Kinps battery as it is rated at 4.35v, over the 3.8v of the pisen/samsung battery. If it really is 4.35v it should give a little boost to the amp section, and should essentially sound better with various earphones. We'll see.

I plugged it into the 50 first and was floored. Everyone saying that it opened up the soundstage was putting it mildly. It makes the 50 sound as good as the 100...without a doubt. I'm going to be putting up my other headphone amps for sale...2 FiiO (E6, E17) and a C&C BH.

I can't believe the improvement this little thing makes on an already fantastic product. Yeah there are bugs...yes there are glitches every now and then...but honestly...for the price point, the sound that comes out of it is insane...even more so with this T1.

Someone above said it truly...there is NOT a $650 sound difference between this and the DX100...not by a long shot.

+1. My SE535 sounds heavenly with the DX50+T1:)

We use firmware 1.16

Please try it as your spare battery
And share here

Thank you Lin

I have not upgrade to fw 1.20 now

will it be due to the voltage gain?

Perhaps.

No harm in trying hey? A battery costs like $10.

It depends if the original Samsung battery actually provides a higher stable output voltage, which it might seeing as its better quality, this will give the amp section of the DX50 more power to play with, and in return power your earphones better, resulting in a more "amped" sound. I can't wait to try the 4.35v battery I've ordered :O

Awaiting my DX50, has anyone paired it with Unique Melody Miracle? If so, thoughts?  Much appreciated.

Yep, the pairing is very nice, but a bit bright.

I would like to hear a real engineer's perspective on this (if you are not one that is). There's a lot of talk about clean current in the hifi world, and I'm wondering if it even makes the slightest difference. I always imagined their would be some sort of buffer between the parts that need electricity and the power supply. Maybe these are called resistors?

Wow. Not really. I've got the tracking and it is shipped from HK on the 11th and my country is very close to HK. I'm expecting it next week! Would it be possible that your order is under 6th batch? iBasso is very responsive with emails, at least I got two of their replies really promptly.

Some batteries have a lower internal resistance which can improve sound.

ah, then someone hook these batteries up to an internal resistance tester already, so we see what this is all about with the original samsung battery. found a cheap tester on ebay for $5. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Digital-LCD-Multimeter-Circuit-Current-Ampere-Voltage-Resistance-Tester-DVOM-DMM-/250961813310?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Test_Measurement_Equipment_ET&hash=item3a6e7d5f3e&_uhb=1

or this one:

might get one actually.
