Tracks 3 & 5 filenames are too long. Shorten them to 30 characters plus Flac extension.

So I got it out the box, made sure it had decent charge and went to update the firmware following the instructions, unzipped and placed the .img file on the device, selected update, it ran through and said it failed, I selected the reboot option but it seems like my device is just stuck on the load screen

I have two 64GB cards, a 32GB card, a 128GB flash drive and a 64GB flash drive all FAT32 formatted full of just FLAC files and I have no problems with any of them. I did clean the files with MP3 tag and replaced the album covers if they were larger than 500x500.

thank God... last thing I want to do is to fallback to 1.6...

First, I know for a fact it's no excuse if a dap does not behave according to standard dap features so at least I can get that out of the way but it seems you have way more problems than anyone would care to have. It might be storage related because it sounds like you can never achieve enough scanning to make it work for you. There might be some issues with your card note that I cannot remove the dap from
the equation but by your description it seems to point to the microSD card. You did try to reformat it in exFat correct by choosing the long format, not the quick? I can't speak for other micoSD cards but majority of SanDisk microSD card owners seem to have a better success rate. I really hope you can get through your issues.

Yeah, pretty frustrating and I guess I have to bite to sour apple and go for a new MicroSD card ;)

It is a safe bet that I won't get ANOTHER one of the one I have ;)

Cheers for all the good tips!

I use the same cards and keep them all FAT32 so I can use them in DX50 and X3.

Just a little trick, my apology if someone has already mentioned it; if your dap is on sleep and you are charging it, to get the charging status, click in the on/off button and it will graphically display that it is either charging or is fully charged.

I installed it on Monday and didn't have any issues at all. Just follow the Read Me text exactly and you should be fine. You'll have to judge for yourself if it's worth it or not. I haven't noticed any major issues.

I followed the instructions bang on, the device had an error, after half an hour of bootloops the recovery popped up, I then moved the file onto the SD card this time and it worked

******* this sounds beautiful.

i too agree. I had a FiiO E17 just prior to the DX50, and I definitely had to pull back the bass and boost the treble a bit to have a more neutral sound.

on another note, whenever i add music, and even with I click scan, none of my albums update. I have to manually go into directory and find them before it actually 'scans' it and goes into the database. anyone else encountering this problem? i have a 16gb microsd formatted into exFAT and fw 1.2.0 if that helps.

little Q: is there a reason to use only the LINE OUT to the amp and not the regular PHONE OUT to the amp instead? what are he benefits of the LINE OUT over the PHONE?

If you still have this issue, press and hold both the on/off button and volume+ button and keep pressed until the device restarts. It should then show you a recovery screen. Choose the wipe/boot option and restart. Make sure you eject the MicroSD card before you do or risk formatting it as well. You may need to re-copy the FW image file again. But don't be surprised if the new FW is installed and it just needed the reset.
