I just tried another sd card with music on it and the same thing. It just goes straight back to the play screen and nothing. Plus the music only shows up in directory mode.

First did you put your player to a longer auto power shutdown mode, say 20-30 minutes?

Second has the player scanned the new card, if not select scan?

It would be nice to know the file names and see the tags - load them up in Mp3Tag and let's see a screenshot!

What is your budget?

I must grow the learning curve and better shape and understand my own preferences. So based on this I will allow myself some $100-$150 for my first IEMs and then go up in some time.

Thanks again!

I mentioned the auto shutdown to give it some time to scan your card.

You need to scan your card so that the player has all it needs to play the tunes.

Does the player show the :

Scan SD Card
Browse Files

If so then select the first and scan.

 I have been reading this thread for 5 days only and I will be reading and following it more for sure.

My comments/doubts on the list that I was suggested are actually based on this threat. Any advice is welcome.

Cheers!

Check out vsonic gr07 if you need lots of bass, else hifiman re400 if you are more into classical types. My 2c

In the undying words of David Bowie: LET'S AMP!*

On second thought, let's not. Using CIEMs, my Heir Rendition 1 doesn't really bring much to the table sonically. Due to the shape and size of the DX50, forget about rubber-banding your amp to it, there is too little room above the screen for this to work. 3M DualLock Low-Profile is what you need if you decide to carry an amp with the '50.

I'll give it a spin with my more demanding Tzar 350 and report back - I no longer own any full size cans to test with.

(*I'm pretty sure that's what he sang.)

I suspect the noise is caused by the amp... the noise doesn't appear immediately after turning the DX50 on. It comes on when the media scanning is almost completed.

If you are talking about a hiss, It does not always come up, sensitive iems yes but my cans have none. It is also quite reduced as you increase the gain.

Go for a GR07 MKII.

got mine from the second batch, put my 32gb card full of ogg and flac and no suggestion came up for me to scan :/ I can access via directory. anyways - it is well built, definittely sounds better than anything I've had before (yes, there is some background noise but not more than what my sansa clip+ has...

oh, somehow my XB90EX have become more detailed, defined but the enormous amount of sub-base is still there, though it sounds less boomy and more groovy (sory for the ****ty pun, couldn't resist)

Yup. One of my headphones doesn't produce the hiss. Most likely a sensitive IEM thing. But I can't quite figure out how some with JH16 gets the hiss and some doesn't. Assuming CIEM doesn't vary as much as build consistency or hearing ability, I'm inclined to believe the hiss actually exists in all devices and an exchange will not help eliminate the hiss.
