I believe we should give iBasso absolutely as much time as they need for this next update. Because... what comes after rushed updates, anyone? Yep, bugs, crashes and things not nice. Which will be EXACTLY what people will whine about about if it goes wrong. Let them get it right and we'll live happily ever after.

*has flashbacks of DX50 rushed release date*

why don't they just release the source code and let us develop for ourself?!

Probably for a number of very good reasons.  It's their firmware, for their machines, they want to control it and they want it to work the way they desire it to do so.

To release the source code allows their competitors access to their intellectual material, which they pay their engineers to write.  It would also let people hack it as they saw fit, for good or bad, and those hacks would then be released out into the world and would possibly reflect badly on iBasso.

And I would be quite loathe to put such a firmware on my machine.  Who would know what was in it?  With a Mac I should probably be somewhat safe, but for PC users, who knows what might be lurking within?

I can wait a "few days" to get it from iBasso, all things considered.

So long as it sounds like 1.2.8 and not 1.2.7 I will be happy. Really wish they could add something so you can re-name your playlists, I'm doubting it though as this didn't feature in DOC08's versions of the DX90 firmware adapted for the DX50.

I'm guessing minimal changes.

Just downloaded FW 1.3.0.

It's awesome....Sounds just like 1.2.8, gapless playback is perfect and album art displays at full resolution.

They've added voice recognition too:

If it hears you whining or complaining about the device, the DX50 will get bricked.  With no rkbatchtool or any recovery method possible to get it back.

I like it!!!!!

Ooooh, you will hear plenty of "If it hears you whining or complaining":deadhorse:

where to download 1.3?

Don't think it's out yet haha.

See, that was a joke.  You can tell 'cause of the second part where he says it has voice recognition and will brick if you say bad things to it.

Also, it should be labeled 1.2.9

Joke.  :L3000:

It's not a sure thing the next FW release is 1.2.9. it could be some odd iteration and only iBasso would know.

Not sure what others thoughts are on this.

I've always been a huge fan of Sony MDR-V6 usually paring them with > Studio V > JDS C421. Its a rather bright detailed pairing however because of the Studio's signature can sound a little thin. Very detailed though maybe lacking some resolution. (but very crisp and clean). I was mucking around this afternoon (as we do)  pairing Sony MDR-V6 > JDS C421 (OP2227) > DX50 > pure silver interconnect. For my standards even owning DT880 and SHR940 this little V6 combo sounds rather generous. Adding DX50 into the chain adds a touch of resolution and takes brightness down a fraction. I really like what I'm hearing from this combo.

I still however don't enjoy DX50 from headphone out much, only with SHR440 (to some extent). Though it's overly clear the advantages I get using line out.

Could it be that iBasso intended for it to work with the new firmware only?
