Yes.  At first after playing an album it was great for a few tracks then you get that small pause.  I tried cue files as well as split tracks (ALAC & FLAC) with the same resulting pause/glitch.  Live albums do work fine though.  It's the mixed CDs that have the issues.

I have 2x 64 gb cards ready to give the DX50 some house, trance and dub gapless love.  Hopefully this FW fixes this issue.

I remember those glitches gave me more headache than enjoying music instead, enough to make me roll back to 1.2.2. Unless you like crossfade in between tracks and no way to turn it off smily_headphones1.gif

I find rockbox very confusing to navigate and the power button don't work at all sometimes..

though the sound is very flat and detailed :D

I still find rockbox's sound is a step up from even DOC's great explosion firmwares

Now a little bit off-topic:

how do I enable USB connection with modified CWM-based Recovery mode? I want to flash Sound Explosion + rockbox firmware so I can switch between both firmware with sound that I like :>

I actually prefer how rockbox displays stuff on the screen to how the stock firmware does it. I'm not sure, but rockbox seems to apply a sort of anti-aliasing on the stuff it displays which makes album arts look much nicer than on the stock firmware (extremely jagged).

It appears so, I have used the HO ever since and no signs yet.

Never experienced the spike, though my DX50 came with 1.2.8 installed. It's only hung with two 24/96 tracks and after I put them through audio converting software ( 24/96 FLAC > 24/96 FLAC) both tracks played fine.

Tried both explosion firmwares and had no problems with either, though with the latest there's no confirmation request for shutting down the DX50. Haven't bothered with Rockbox as I wanted a DAP that plays more than just 16/44 tracks.

Spooky, I agree with every word, same experience as myself.

However I don't convert from 24/96 Flac to 24/96 Flac :D

I've had some files (FLAC) that I got "somewhere" that wouldn't play (also had some that wouldn't burn on my Mac).  I just ran them through xAct to re-convert them (usually to WAV and then back to FLAC) and then all was fine.  Sometimes things get wonky.

Trying to revert back to stock firmware after using rockbox and it's my understanding that the only way I can do this is via the RKbatchtool, am I correct?

I've been trying everything to install the drivers to recognise my DX50, including the ones included in the RKbatchtool zip (which I know don't include Windows 8), but nothing.

Keep getting this error

Please help!

You have to:

  • "uninstall
  • 1) use cwm to return to stock recovery (stock_recovery.zip from package you downloaded before)
  • 2) use stock recovery to flash any update.img"

In the files you downloaded to put RockBox ON your DX50 there is a file called "stock_recovery.zip."  You need to put that back into your device

so that you can then reinstall the stock firmware (1.2.8).  I took a micro sd card, took everything off of it, put the recovery zip on it, and plugged the

card into the DX50.  Then I (think I) rebooted and fussed with the touchscreen until I got it to scroll to the place where I could open the zip from the external card.

That was the hardest part, as the touchscreen was fussy and it was hard to get it to the right place.  Once you accomplish this the device reboots and now you have

a stock recovery again (to install RockBox you have to first install a non-stock recovery).  Then you make sure the device is on, plug it into your computer using a USB cord,

place the firmware .img in the base of the machine, and run update as normal.   Or, I suppose, you could erase the now-used zip and replace it with the img and update that way using the micro card) if you can't get the computer to see the DX50.  .

It took a lot of fiddling and some swearing to get it to work, but it did.  I use a Mac, but it should be the same on a PC, especially since I used the zip on a micro card and not the computer to do this.

Hi there, this is my first post in this thread.  Is it possible to install the DOC2008 firmware and then Rockbox the DX50?  I would like to try the DOC2008, but I don't want to lose the Replaygain feature that comes with Rockbox.
