Yeah, didn't understand how a balanced output worked. It was explained to me by another member, I get it now.

Hopefully @nc8000 is correct.

I don't know if he is right, I did not see his lips moving :D

Most balanced implementations are done using two dacs, and sometimes some output circuitry to balance the output. The 8740 is capable of performing a balanced output almost without output circuitry due to its differential output using sigma-delta design. The DX90 is going to be different using HyperStream design so this one might require some output circuitry to balance the dacs. Basically it has to be designed by the player manufacturer unless you know how to hack a dual-dac player.

as you can see in this Review of the shure se846, the dx50 does not perform that well with this iem (you Need to scroll down to see the rmaa Graphs). does anyone use the dx50 with an extra amp to fix the Problem of loosing bass quantity with Multi ba-based iems?

Has anyone had any trouble with track listings? I edit the tracks with Tag on a mac but this doesn't seem to make a difference. Also, having trouble playing some flac files?

Are there any plans to add "Play All" at the top of every directory?
Example of what I would like/apple does:
within the "Red Hot Chilli Peppers" directory, I want to see
_Play All
_Californication
_Stadium Arcadium
___Play All
___Disc 1
___Disc 2
Play All is at the top of every directory. I would really like this.

This is how apple products work if you need something to reference. This is how every player's directory structre should work. I often want to play everything in a 2nd level directory:
_Root (Top/1st level)
__Artist (2nd level)
___Album1 (3rd level)
___Album2
___Album3
Playing by Artist does not solve this problem, as many artists have "with" or "featuring" or "and" in the artist info and thus the player reads it as a separate artist. I just want to throw all the "With, And, Featuring" in 1 directory and be able to "play all" at any point in the directory tree.

Also I would really like this and proper "Last song" in random play to work with 2.0.0 (Fiio/apple/Creative/Sansa all work this way, probably others too...)
When in random play, assume this track sequence
1
3
2
assume I am currently on track 2 at the end of that list and hit "Previous track", it will go to track 1, not track 3 like it should. (it goes to the track immediately above the current file when looked at in directory view. Dumb. It should go backwards in the same sequence of tracks as it played). Are there any plans to address this?
This is also how Apple's random play (and everyone else I can think of) works. I dont care for apple much, but they got their playback functions much better refined than iBasso. (as they should since they have 1000000x the budget, but all ibasso has to do is copy how it works. It cant be that hard to do).

These are really my only remaining beefs with the player. (and USB DAC functionality, but thats coming I hear) Otherwise im still in love.

+1...I like your description, it lays it out very plainly and is what the DX50 (and DX90) needs.

How reinforced is the headphone jack? I tend to brake them on a lot of things rather quickly (though my Clip+ is just loosening now =C ) and don't want to risk breaking a $240 device

I've seen posts to max out the volume on the DX50.. then adjust accordingly on the amp (using a JDS Labs C5). Should I try to use the HO instead?

I emailed JDS Labs re my C5 and they said "full" volume on the Line Out of the DX50.  Waiting for my player to arrive so I can't say if that is correct.

It depends on the amp, mine sounded muddy with the LO above 250

I was just referencing the C5.

Search this thread for 'c5 LO volume'
You'll see a few people recommending a lower setting... M

It gets muddy because of the gain mismatch between the amp and headphone. But for LO volume it should be maxed out to get the best possible SNR and dynamic range.

If you have a high impedance headphone on C5 you should always put it at high gain. At low gain, it may be able to put out load volume but it will sound muddy or distorted. For low impedance and high-sensitivity phone the low gain should be fine even with the LO volume set to max.
