This is 48dB to 56dB attenuation before one will even begin to hear anything is lost.

Yep. As a practical point, the 16 bit words of redbook audio (CD-DA) cover a 96dB dynamic range. Most rock shows in the US are legally limited to 100dB with a + 10-15dB rider so realistically the loudest of the loud is "only" 115dB peak, which means the absolute quietest that you can get without clipping is 19dB. That's leaves rustling in a breeze. Like you're going to hear that at a rock show. Realistically you're not going to get anything less than, what, maybe 60dB? So even with "only" 16 bit words you still have 40dB worth of leg room.

By comparison, 24 bit words cover a 144dB dynamic range. You're never going to listen to that full range. No. I correct myself. You'll hear it once and then you'll never hear anything else for the rest of your life because you'll have permanently damaged your ears.

I'm diggin' on 1.2.6. The cached SD database is killer, new SQ is great, and despite the issue with gapless, the crossfade sounds ok to me since most of my music isn't live. Also, the improved touch sensitivity is awesome!

I'm liking the 1.2.6 also, bass is very nice now, except the gapless as other have noted.

The only other thing I would like is an array implemented for the "queue" for random play, I like to go back a few songs to listen to a song again, with no 'remembered' files in the random queue you get new songs when hitting '<- (the skip back button)',  just my preference.

Using the latest FW, bass is definitely more prominent than it used to be. Listening using ER4P is still ok, but my DT880/600ohm now sounds like a damn woofer. Tried fiddling with EQ by lowering the lowest 2 band to -6, not much help. I understand some people prefer stronger bass, but there are people who do not like to have a woofer on ear. Please iBasso, lets us have the choice of tuning the sound to our liking, DO NOT SHOVE it down our throat in this way.

On the other hand, the sensitivity of the screen is much much improved. No longer accidentally selecting wrong folder/track while browsing.

Tried the new 1.2.6..  great to see new media scanning bar and a new wallpaper but SQ wise is a downgrade......  bass is bloomy but not as tight as 1.2.5 .. the high is not as forward as 1.2.5 .. IMHO 1.2.2 sound the best follow by 1.2.5 for me using TG334

Have you tried resetting your device? Reboot with the Volume Up and Power buttons held, until you get to a recovery screen. Use the volume buttons to navigate to the delete option. Select it with the power button, and follow from there.
This seems to help with a good deal of minor bugs.

Apparently iBasso sees their customers as beta testers, otherwise can not be seen, they announce the FW 1.2.5 and now 1.2.6 FW not publish on its website, but via a user of the Forum HeadFi.org a group of users.

A product whose elemental features included are controlled by software, must be provided prior to delivery of specified software, it may not be that the FW has such serious shortcomings. So that may be required within 8 months 7Updates.

Where fundamental flaws are not resolved, the ease of use are only incompletely improved and new annoyances arise.

The dx 50 is due to the defective software not a full player, it also changes the good sound of the built-in DAC chips nothing.

so you don't think it is worth $239 then. Tell me where I can get this sound for that amount please.

The price argument does not fit, it's common for a product to be delivered works flawlessly and regardless of price.

If I can not produce the required (usual) a quality product at a certain price, I have to calculate the price new or rethink my business model.

But apparently it has become normal to buy unfinished and to cheer
