Mini SF Bay Area meet - Page 5

Big meet in February isn't a head-fi meet??? What is it?

Oops. I mistook that one for the last February meet.

Last February meet was ChangFEST. It originated from Changstar, so it was technically a Changstar meet that also included Head-fi members.

There really isn't a distinction in my mind, other than that ChangFEST also includes members from Changstar, so... there are people who aren't on Head-fi there. Basically more people and more gears. A Head-fi meet to me means... purely Head-fi members and friends.

But hey, the more the merrier. :beerchug:

It doesn't look like the next meet is ChangFEST. So maybe there'll be a ChangFEST to follow up on that. I'll keep my eyes out for that one like a hawk.

Or is that March meet in LA ChangFEST? Edit: Nope. Answered my own question.

So it looks like a ChangFEST is still somewhere within 2014. Awesome! I hope it happens before June... because I'll be in a different country by June.

Please count me in.. I don't have an army of goodies like the folks here but can bring my Heir 3.ai with disposable earbuds for you guys to try it out and I think it is a very strong contender for portable gear without the need of an amp and a dent in your pocket.

In Bay area language Heir 3.ai is Bart, Caltrain and Light rail friendly :-)

Depending on the date, I may be able to make it. This fall has gotten pretty busy. I'm not sure what I'll bring.

Alrighty. You're on the list!

Sorry, I've been busy all of last week, so I couldn't update the thread.

Yeah, it has gotten pretty busy for me, too.

But I'll still try to make this a reality!

So right now we have a list of 14 interested souls. I think we can have a semi-big meet, folks.

Let's talk about a possible location. Any East Bay resident would like to chime in? Please?

...or should I contact Audio High? :D

Count me in if it's not the last weekend of September (28-29).

My apartment won't fit 15 people comfortably, but I'd be willing to host if there's any interest for a micro-meet under say 5. I'm in Hayward.

As it is, I don't think we'd be able to fit this into the last weekend of September.

From what I can see, maybe it'll happen in October when we've locked into a location.

So... I'm jotting you down!

@Bill-P: Audio High would be awesome...I would have to come by around 1:30 but would absolutely try to make it!

@Questhate and Zerodeefex- great to see you in this thread. Some meets WILL happen.

Would a meeting of this type be appropriate for someone completely new to the audiophile world? I'm in the process of searching for a replacement for my iPod and a decent set of phones, but I'm really clueless in terms of what to pick up. I think hearing some different set ups would help immensely, though obviously I wouldn't be bringing much to the table in terms of gear for others to test out. I'm on the Peninsula, by the way, but could travel.

Thanks!

In my opinion - Absolutely!  You can hear a decent cross section of gear from "reasonable" in price on up to to exceeding the cost of a decent commuter car.  It is good to hear a good price cross section of gear.  It kind of lets you know where you'd like to jump into the pool so to speak.

Excellent - this is exactly what I was thinking. Please add me to the list of likely attendees. Official confirmation will depend on the date and time, but I'm definitely interested.

I'm interested in showing up for the meet in sf.

I will be travelling around the West Coast over the next few weeks and will be in San Fran for October 2nd to the 11th.

I'd be interested in attending a meet if it happens to be during that time.

I will have with me:
- HRT Microstreamer

- Sony Walkman NW-F806 with LOD

- Tralucent Audio T1 Amp

- Unique Melody Miracles

Gotcha! I just need to find some time this week to contact Audio High. Hopefully I still have that business card handy...

Sure thing! Your name is down. We may end up asking Audio High to host this meet, so it's quite a distance from S.F..

Sounds good! I'll see if Audio High is happy to host a meet either next week or the week after.
