well, it's terrible in that compared to the Akg K550 and something like a Beyer Dt 880, it's a little loose, but even my w1000x has a slighty loose bass [although mods and new pads have tightend it up nicely]

But as far as quanity goes, yes it's a good fun balanced can! And TRUST me for the price, I wish I got one over my old Xb 700 >.>

and honestly... the K550 is a nice can. But it's to dmn fickle. yea it seals on my head nicely, but gawd forbid I move my neck or my jaw and the dang things loses bass for a few seconds xD

but honestly though, the K550 is a GREAT can, VERY tight bass, and a nice mid tilt in the sound signiture! I preferd the K550 over the ath a900x, BUT I prefer my Dt 880 600 recable over teh K550 :D, and for portable use I think my Hm 801 and JDS labs C5 will do a nice job drinving the 600 ohm Beyers

Actually if that guy listed A900x in the 50+ flagships, it is already good enough. Compare to those thousand dollar headphones and discontinued classics you won't be impressed by a $200 ath any more. Especially with that sony R10 on the list.

But he seem to like the AD900 and rated it "A" for the price ratio to performance smily_headphones1.gif

Omg a Sultan is the leader of your country... that's very awesome. How much english is spoken there :O [I'm like totally gonna invade your house dude xD]

Yea! The Sultan is very kind to his population. If you are Bruneian, you get free houses if your salaries are low. You get money if you study well + TAX HERE ARE LOW :DDD

Like my "location" said, "Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei" the capital city of Brunei.

I just hope sooner or later someone will bring in some awesome headphones and earphones in here at resonable price not twice the original price T.T

Wow you made me feel really jealous. Guess how much the houses cost in China??? In my home town there was a Bruneian restaurant I used to pass by everyday and never got a chance to try. But anyway I'm in US right now...

China houses may be expensive but still, the value is there! It increase rapidly! Brunei houses do cost less but the value increase slower not a good place for investment to be honest but a good place to live! I am still eager ing if there's any people like me who love audio gears here xD

To me the bass on the ATH-A900X is just right.

I'd like it a touch tighter but yea, overall is was a nice can. Got thick and heavy when it needed to, and toned down a little when it was required to!

So the ATH A900X is a good can you guys think? Because I have a few options now, which I am going to tirelessly toil on the interwebz to find which one is the best for me.

1.) $300-- Sennheiser MOMENTUM (took a listen to these cans in portland, they have an excellent warm sound to them which I love, and can get the kind of bass in some of the alternative electronic songs I listen to)

2.) $200-- K550 (never listened to these, but they were reccomended on this thread, I hope they have something similar to the slightly warm sound of the Momentums)

3.) $270-- DT880-600 (haven't listened to these either, but again, they were reccomended)

And then I want to get some used Sennheisers, either the Amperior, or the HD25-1ii, both of them around $150 used on amazon, just cause they look cool, and I want something for the particularly demanding dubstep and electronic stuff I like

The K550 is actually a slighty dark can, warm denoting bass emphasis and treble de emphasizes! The k550 is in reality dark, the mids have a good tone, forward compared to everything else. The k550 also has a very nice deep bass, my issues with it are the treble which... is a touch to dull for my tastes, it's not recessed but... not to bright and sparkly

In addition the seal is super fickle. Yea it fits my head, nice and snug but if I yawn, if I sneeze, if I look up, if I look side ways, even eating and drinking with these headphones on break it's seal

And by seal, I mean the connection that the ePads and your face have that seal keeps the bass nice and tight and punchy, and the mids a their slight mid lushness and tactility

That said, the Ath a900x is a nice middle ground. Pair it with a nice hybrid tube and it should shine very well

Totally agree with his thought on the K550. If you are planning to get a pair of used Sennheiser Amperior, I say, go for the K550 unless you have smaller head. Momentum sound warm indeed but it is darker than K550 to my ears. In addition, the Momentum does not have spacious soundstage and details compared to K550/ PSB M4U1

I guess I'm waiting to hear the report on the ATH A900X now, cause I wanna know what a normal person thinks about it. :) And for some cool looking used cans just for generic dubstep and electronic, the Amperior's aren't too bad are they?
