Especially with Black Sabbath on that list. That can lead a person down a very long road.

I've always been a devout Aerosmith fanboy, but Santana was just fantastic. Abraxas was amazing. Please let me know if you know any other groups/bands like them.

To me, Santana's music is a unique blend of latin-style and rock music. As far as I know there is no other band that sounds exactly like Santana. But two bands that come to my mind are Malo and the original Journey (before Steve Perry).

Malo had a percussion section, similar to Santana and a horn section, unlike Santana. But no lead guitar similar to Santana. Carlos Santana's brother Jorge Santana was a member of Malo. I like their first album, Malo. They are closer to Latin-style music.

Then there was the original Journey, two of its original members came from Santana, Greg Rolie - keyboard and vocals, and Neal Schon - lead guitar. Greg Rolie was the vocals in Abraxas. I like their first two albums, Journey and Look Into The Future. Journey is more rock style.

I second the two Journey releases and I've been told the third release is also of that sound.

Check out Santana III

I'm guessing that since you like the classic rock you don't need help in it but rather newer music that fits that sound?

Santana was classified as Jazz fusion/rock so this site might be of some entertainment.
