I'd really like to hear the new Mad Dog Alphas, AKG K551/545, PSB, NAD, Philips Fidelo, and any other new or interesting headphones. Icing on the cake would be if someone brought the new Centrance HifiM8. Basically I'd like to get together with some fellow SoCal enthusiasts, try out different set ups and share my surround sound music hobby. Anyone interested?

Hi mbritt,

Although I am not sure how many people  on Head-Fi are also audiophiles for speakers, the LA OC Audio Society, a very large audiophile user's group, is having their annual holiday gala on Sunday, 12/8 during the day from 11:00am to 3:30pm. So while there are many people in So Cal driving to Buena Park on Sunday, some of us, like me, will be attending the gala.

But, thanks for the generous offer to host a get together. I'd love to take you up on your offer some other time as I also share your interest in surround sound music!

Oops. I didn't realize the LA OC Audio Society event was this weekend. I've gone to it before and they have some great raffle prizes. I'll cancel my get together and go to the holiday gala instead. If anyone wants to get together at my place in the near future let me know. I'd like to see this localized group have some more interaction.

mbritt and darinf, I guess I'll see you guys at the Gala.  If I'm not walking around, I'll be at the Positive Feedback table.

Sorry for taking so long to introduce myself.  My name is Kokushu and I am living in Orange County.  English is my second language so excuse my poor grammar and vocabulary.  I am an audiophile for a while now and have put together a decent collection.  My current favorite headphone is the HD 800 and looking for a good setup with it.  I listen to mostly classical and opera but I do enjoy all other genres.  Hope to get a chance to know you all and learn more about the in and out of this hobby.  Have a happy holidays.

Welcome! I'm quite partial to classical myself.

and I look like this:

John Williams knows me well, so if you're familiar with what he looks like, he could probably point me out fairly quickly.

Hello, my name is Mike Mossey, and I live in Northridge. I'm a member of the trade and have some headphone products to sell, but even more than that I'm looking just to meet fellow headphone enthusiasts and listen to each other's equipment. I would be interested in attending any mini-meets coming up. I can also host a mini-meet in my home in Northridge with room for about 8 people to bring electronics.

If anyone is interested in a mini-meet in the San Fernando Valley at my home in Northridge, let me know.

I was at the LAOCAS Gala today. Good to meet you again, Warren.

I tend to scare people when I post selfies

So I shall refrain. Someday when I do show up for a meet, I will probably be anonymous lol.

I should have checked this thread before going although I was looking out for people under 60 thinking they might be head-fiers ;-)

The photo with my dog is deceiving.  I magically don't have grey hair anymore and no one recognizes me without the dog!

mbritt, I'd be interested in checking out your surround sound setup, speakers, etc at some point.  I'm a fan of good sound in general.

Hey boys.

Been around head-fi for around 6 years now. Started my journey as a starving student.

Still a starving student in some ways.

Used to be quite involved in the community, but military obligations and family took precedence for about a year or two.

I spent most of my time on the IEM discussion threads, back when I could name off every single contender. Also had a lot of enjoyment with our close-knit group of friends on here. It's a pity most of them have moved on. You'll catch me on the classifieds for sure, stay tuned for my holiday deals!

Hopefully, I can make time to attend some of these meets, now that Socal has such a huge member base.

Cheers.

Hi all. My name is Jake, and I'm from Canada originally. I moved to LA in 2006 to work at USC. Soon thereafter, I acquired an interest in portable audio. After a disappointing experiment with wireless headphones, I put together my first serious portable rig: iMod, RSA Predator amp, and Grado GS 1000 headphones. My current portable rig stretches the limits of portability (I carry it in a chest pouch made for a CV radio). iPhone, Algorhythm Solo DB DAC, ALO Pan Am amp with external custom made battery pack, AKG K1000 earspeakers (bass heavy version). My next goal is to make a DIY successor to the k1000.

I'd love to meet all you guys so I'd be very interested in a get together.
