Best budget DAP

Hi,

Which would be the best DAP to get on a budget? I was thinking about the Sansa Fuze. Are there any DAP's better than this for the price. I'm currently using the GS3 and I'm disappointed with it's SQ. Is the Sansa's SQ much better than the GSx3? Thank you.

I currently own both, and clip zip is slightly better. It also has more customizeable sound and works better for iems. Clip also has slightly more power.

The Sansa Clip+ is about unbeatable for the price, especially if you Rockbox it.

Sandisk just makes the best budget DAPs, period.

Agreed.

In short, basically anything you buy from "Sansa" (Sandisk) in terms of a DAP will be good; just find the form factor and features you like/need the most. They all have output quality that is more or less an equal of an iPod.

Thanks for all your advice. Will I get better SQ if I get a Sansa Clip+/zip/fuze or if I get an E07K to pair with my GS3?. Will the E07k bypass the DAC of the GS3? I also heard good things about Cube C30 and Teclast X19HD

Kimvictor,

I heard the Clip Zip cannot be rockboxed whist it can be done with Clip+ and Fuze? Is that correct?

The Ipod has better SQ than GS3? and Sansa only equals the ipod?

A good option would be the iBasso D-Zero if you can afford it.

Nah. Clip zip can be. I've been using mine rockboxed for over 4month without an issue.

I would probably get the E07k. It has a better sound quality over all. E07K also has much more power than any clip does.

The E07K would probably be a better bet if you want the best sound quality. However, I'd recommend you just go ahead and buy the E17 because it's only $20 more expensive and it's much better than the E07K.

The prices in Malaysia for the items are as follows:

  1. Ibasso D-Zero: RM389
  2. Fiio E07K: RM300
  3. Fiio E17: RM490

The price between E07k and E17 is steep. Where as the D-Zero seems reasonable. With the cost in mind, I think E07K and D-zero will make more sense. These 2 are compatible with GS3, right?

I think E07k had some issues with stock GS3. Let me check. I'll post update in few mins.

Hmm. Some say it works and some say it doesn't. Too bad I don't have a E07k to test.

My GS3 is rooted. From my understanding it works with 4.11 with some add-ons (forgot the name) or 4.22 out of the box. But I still will be able to use it with the audio jack instead of USB OTG, right?

Yes, of course.

But the SQ will not be 100% the capability of the E07K, if I use the audio jack?
