ELE DAC Thread - Page 2

No. I think everything over 32Ohm-60Ohm will start to "struggle". I mean you can listen the sound and it`s normal but D02 wont give out the juice to bring higher-impedance cans to their optimum performance. This little cheap thing is still mainly for DAC use. If you use higher-impedance headphones then it would be wise to look something else in addition to ELE DAC (Cmoy would do ok I quess) or get something else instead as DAC/Amp combo or combine something yourself. Hifimediy Sabre would be also great choice in low-mid-budget but ELE-DAC is in my opinion good enough for 668b or equivalent cans. Of course opinion on sound is subjective.

I was thinking in the future buy a FiiO E6. In this case, the D01 is suficient, no? I have read that is not good bi-amplified.

Maybe, I owe You an answer @ bi-amping part in case of ELE DAC`s. All I know is that sound out of amplified headphone jack-out is better than line-out jack.

And really I notice the cleanest and highest quality sound with this DAC, instead of a Realtek on-board?

If you compare with Realtek jack-out sound - then yes, difference is noticeable but I haven`t compared with realtek digital out via optical/SPDIF.

By the way, in terms of volume you have to leave Windows to not break your ears? (With your D02 and Superlux)

D02 controls the volume of windows mixer - they are not separated. And if you use external DAC, recommended to use ASIO, KSP or WASAPI output.

I have already purchased this DAC D02 for 11 €. You could tell me you said earlier? You said you changed the capacitors by others, right? (Why?) What models are they?

Ah, and other question: the "line-out" jack is is not amplified by the "TDA1308" right?

Thanks.

Ok so new to the group - but found you guys through another post on Reddit.

So I've got a classic '66 Volvo Amazon and no decks look good (too modern) so I decied to build a 'headless' deck using a Raspberry Pi and a bluetooth dongle.  Got it working too - http://www.instructables.com/id/Turn-your-Raspberry-Pi-into-a-Portable-Bluetooth-A/

The audio is crap off the headphone jack so I bought the ELE EL-D01 DAC off eBay thinking it should work right?  Nup.  A bunch of other USB DACs work fine - just not this one.

Just wondering if anyone here (or anyone else following this thread about this little wonder) might know where to find some advice on getting it to work?

It is probably not much help but I have RPi and the EL-D01 DAC and it was plug and play. No need for any drivers or settings though I am using Volumio with MPD player. DAC showed up as "hardware" out in Volumio's settings.

The D02 amplifier  the headphone jack, and "Line-out" is the same as the D01. I doubt that quality "line out" (is the same as D01) is crap. People are very happy with both DAC. (D01 and D02)

With D02 sound out of line-out and headphone-out IS different. I can clearly hear the difference. Maybe it has something to do with changed caps, dunno.

Obvious. The headphone output is amplified, and the line-out no. The D01 is the same as the D02 line-out jack.

But D02 headphone out is better imo and I would recommend D02 over D01

Found it after a few more hours of searching - I went back to the original setup scrips for getting the headless setup running - under one of the bluetooth config settings the guy who wrote the script forced the output to the headphone jacks.  I ran

"sudo pacmd list-sinks |grep name:"

Found my AUDIOSINK target and updated then name in the config file accordingly.  All works!

Here's the site that finally gave me the right place to look for the name.

Thanks guys!  Hope this helps someone else some day.
