I have not compared it with JRiver. I mentioned it because it's the best player I tried in SQ and features and it's for mac. It has good reviews too.

I am very happy with this combination, and I appreciate everyones advice on getting me there.

A properly driven HE60 is indeed a wonderful beast.  It's got a unique presentation that sets it apart from even its bigger brother Orpheus; I find HE60 to have a more sparkling sound with more enthusiastic upper bass "pop" for a more driving sound though not as deep in low bass.  Congrats on a nice setup.

I also love my own -- glad I didn't settle with a HD 800 setup. The latter is a great headphone but it doesn't hit the spot like the HE60 does. The HE60 just makes me feel good about life in general.

I wish it wasn't so high-maintenance though. The o-rings aren't such a big deal since rubber bands are a serviceable substitute, but I can't think of any good substitutes for flaked-out earpads that aren't first-party.
