Quicky Grado SR80 bass question (little bass heavy?)

How is the bass on the SR80's?

Isn't it a little bass heavy?

Define bass heavy? It has less bass than Sony V6's? Same general price range.

I find Grados to most definitely exhibit a mid-bass hump; however, the bass is tighter than most phones and is generally nice and deep. As you go up the line the bass gets much better.

I feel Grados have less bass than Sennheiser 580/600/650's.

Give them a listen if you can (there are plenty of stores in Montreal that have them in stock) and if you like the sound, pull the trigger on the purchase. Otherwise, come back and ask for some suggestions and we will be happy to provide. Best bet is always to have a listen first if possible.

My MS1 is definitely not bass heavy. Its very lean with good impact, with perhaps a bit of a roll off at the lowest registers.

I thought they were bass heavy when compared with a Grado SR60.

I think their ment to be that way so you cannot comapre them to SR-80, i believe they`re supposed to be neutral like that.

The bass on the SR-80's, if anything, is quite lacking in comparison to most other phones I've tried. My friend's V6's have approximately 10 times the bass my SR-80's have. However, the SR-80's bass is of excellent quality. It goes pretty darn deep, resonates, and is real nice and tight and punchy in rock stuff.

i dont think the sr80s are bass heavy at all...but it really depends what you are comparing it to. it's definitely not as bassy as the v6s, which is find is overly bassy.

i've compared the sr60s with the sr80s, the 80s has slightly more bass, but not by far or too noticeable.

It semes to be pretty subjective. I've seen numerous posts claiming it is very lacking in bass, while others complain it's "far too bassy".

I don't have experience with many other phones, but I find mine to be exactly what I need. It won't rock your socks, but it is realistic and full.

Well, it depends which headphones you compare with.

E.g. SR-80's have kind of bloating, less refined bass and a bit boomy in comparison with Alessandro MS-2's.

No it is NOT bass heavy. The bass has nice slam to it and is NOT bloated at all. I dont see why someone would buy a SR80 for non-bassy music though.

Definitely not bass heavy... In fact I think its right about the minimum without losing any punch in the music... In my opinion

I agree that the sr-80 is not bass heavy when compared to other cans. I think it has nice impact but i would not call it bass heavy. At times i find myself wanting more bass when listening to these headphones

I'm running my SR80's with a 100 Ohm impedance adapter on an M3 and I find the bass to have a definite impact as well as being able to go easily into the subsonic frequencies. However, after listening to some other cans, I can say that the bass is a bit on the lean side.
