Yikes.  Have you written a will for your headphone gear?

I kid, of course... I've got a pretty healthy appetite myself.

Where are you, HiFiGuy?  I'm in Moraga, so that place is not far at all.

Hi All, thanks for adding me to the group! I will take some time and post a more formal introduction a little bit later, when I have more time to sit at the computer (with the kids in bed!). For now, I'll do the "short" version. For starters, I really Really REALLY REALLY wanted to make it to the last meet! I am upset that I missed it. I tried like heck to get free for the day, but family obligations come first.

Short version, here we go - I'm 42 years old. My wife and I just celebrated our 10th anniversary. We have two kids, a six year old girl and a one year old boy. My daughter is getting into the habit of falling asleep wearing her Hello Kitty headphones while listening to some of her favorite music on her Nintendo DSi. Where did she get that habit from? Maybe me? I don't use the Hello Kitty headphones though. At least I'm not going to admit to that. Not to you guys.

Anyway, by joining this group I'm hoping to get in the loop with some local happenings and get to some meets, etc. I have a lot to learn and a lot to share!

Vacaville indeed.  My wife's been here 30+ years, I've been here 10 or so.  We also celebrated our 10th anniversary this year, though I started a dozen years later than you.

Wow. Cool. Good to know you're nearby! Kids? Kids are good at keeping each other busy while the "grown ups" geek out with headphone stuff.

Didn't you say in the other thread your M8 is coming today? I'm going to intercept the FedEx guy...heeehee (evil laugh)

Are you in Vacaville also?  Yup, 1 each 8 year old girl, who loves and excuse to play.  She has Down Syndrome, which is no big deal.  Coolest little girl in the world as far as her daddy's concerned!  She sometimes prefers to play with younger kids - your six year old might just be a perfect playmate. HIFI-M8 is shipping today, due to arrive by noon on Friday.  At work.  I work in ahhh, let's say maybe Woodland.  Or Sacramento.  Yeah, that's it.  Intercept the FedEx truck on Friday somewhere in Woodland.  Or Sacramento...

I think we all will want to get together and hang out a lot, so I made a new thread for that.

Let's get this on the road!

Yup. Vacaville. We live in Alamo Place, off Alamo between Vanden and Leisure Town. Edge of town, across the street is miles of farmlands.

Definitely looking forward to meeting you sometime and perhaps play time for the kids!

Looks like you are sending me on a goose chase with the FedEx guy. That's okay, I can take a hint...wink.gif

Something that I think would also be cool would be to get folks together for some DIY projects.  I'm a software dude that wants to learn more about hardware and electronics.  I've built a Bottlehead Crack + Speedball and that was fun... and I'm convinced that two people building one would go at least twice as fast since one person can measure, cut and strip the wires while the other places and solders.  The reduced context switching would go a long way... plus I have all the gear needed.  So yeah, if any of you want to build one of those, schedule permitting, I might be able to help.

But yeah, I'm wanting to learn more about this stuff, and I'm figuring that the SF Bay Area has a few other geeks that would be into such a thing as well.

I'm admittedly over building stuff, but I would love to learn how to solder cleaner.  I can tin a speaker cable no problem and get the job done elsewhere, but it's UGLY.

So I'd probably bring out my inner true geekdom for something like this.

And I'm imagining a few tables on my property with a bunch of cool gear (not a DIY thing, but a sort of low-key meet)

once we get the house together!!

I'd love to do this. Theres a deal on x at the moment for $295 for a Crack + Speedball but I just got a Mojo, and I don't know what to do. Is it worth it for the HD650?

Yeah, I'd also like to learn to solder more cleanly.

Oh?  I thought you had an order in for a Crack + Speedball already.  Also, talking about group buy sites here is apparently a no-no.  I like it for the HD650... a bit more than the Burson Soloist.

I did, then I cancelled it.
