That did the trick -- much appreciated! If I turn it to Auto will it automatically add any new files I put on the microSD to the Play All list??

That's the main idea of that.

Haven't used it (I always like to control the database LOL), but it should work like that.

Yup. As soon as you disconnect after adding new files, the DB is updated automatically. It's not flawless, though. I've had to update it manually sometimes after the auto update to get it to recognize all the changes.

I haven't read all of the posts so this might be there.
I had problems with 64 gb sandisk until I let the fiio x3 format it, it hasn't missed a beat since on the contrary it's been supplying me lots of beats;)
Hope this helps.

I see the X5 has been released and already has two firmware updates.... Welcome all you beta testers.....Maybe they will get all the problems ironed out or maybe they will just sell you a newer expensive model.......

What happened to those promised firmware updates for the X3 that was going to solve the file management issues?

You know you can search the forums to look for information right?

They already mentioned that an update will be released in March when the X5 goes global (yes, a firmware update to the X3 for fixing media library as well...)

Less time bitching... more time reading...

Thanks.

Recommendation for 64 GB SD card for X3, one post recommended a Samsung Pro which is already FAT32 formatted also does card speed i.e. 4 or 10 matter for use with music?

Thank you

This message is specifically for geeee--Locks. It's just wonderful that you believe what Fiio tells you. The X3 has had 3 firmware updates since I received my first unit. None of these file management issues were ever rectified. There are hundreds posts in this forum in several different areas indicating other issues as well. I cannot comment on those issues as my X3 hasn't gotten much actual use because of the fact that I have never been able to get much of my 2000 plus CD collection on any of the variety of micro SD cards I tried. Members of the forum and the Fiio support folks themselves have offered a smorgasbord of suggestions for resolving the file management issues. Anyone who took the time to digitize (into FLAC) over 2000 CDs ... and by the way has no problem accessing any of the music via a wireless network or when copied to an micro SD card and played on a $35 sansa clip player & my Samsung tablet....hardly wants to dick around trying this and doing that to make the X3 work right.

When Fiio offers no real solutions other than wait for the next firmware update ..... Well, I'm sorry I have already heard that one......then Then they start marketing a newer more expensive X5 model....Huh, sure I'm gonna wait.....what other choices are there.... I couldn't in clear conscious even put this X3 on E-Bay or give it to my kid... mostly because it doesn't work as the marketing material wonderfully described...

Hey geeeeee- locks.... maybe you'd like to buy this X3....

Just to share a positive experience for anyone choosing a card to buy: no issues have been observed in months on my Kingston SDCX10/64GB. I formatted both the internal memory and the SDHC with the SmartDisk FAT32 Format Utility (the FiiO suggested one) and I transfer files via foobar2000.

For instance, currently the memory card is loaded of 1102 files in 154 folder (for a total 58,6 GB, 300MB free), mostly FLAC with some MP3, and I see/play/browse them all.

don't worry, the new firmware will change to new data base which is quite stable and fast , confirmed in X5 .

I am afraid this is a moan.

I've had the X3 since Christmas and have a Kingston 64gb MicroSD.

The problem I have which is now regularly occurring is that tracks seem to start jumping and sound scratched (no I'm not playing it on my turntable!).

It then stops and says that the file is not supported. This has been happening with ripped FLAC CD's and high res downloads from Society of Sound. They are all ok on my computer so I have to delete tracks and replace.

It's jumped one track and crashed on another (file not supported) just on the way home this evening.

I showed my mate my new toy and played him On the Road Again by Canned heat which started skipping. He's sticking with his iphone and can't work out why I think this thing is any good.

I'm starting to wonder myself sometimes.

Steve

Sorry if this has been asked before cause I'm picking up my X3 tomorrow so just thought I'd ask if X3 does gapless playing. Spotify claims that it does but unfortunately it doesn't on my iPhone 4S with Spotify Premium Account's offline downloads. That's the reason why I'm getting X3 so I hope it does gapless

Yes, the X3 supports gapless playback.  It works well on most of my files.
