A new member needs some suggestions about portable player

Hello all , I was a long time lurker :0 and now finally joined the community , yay!

So I have some trouble about my new portable player between x3 or ak100, I read many threads in local forum and head-fi but many people seems prefer x3 due to the price tag.

Currently I am using Sony f806 with BH2 to drive my ck100pro , I feel satisfied with the sound performance but the f806 has some serious issues:

1.the touch screen will keep touching itself occasionally so I need to press the power button to stop it.
2.when playing track , the song will get interrupted for 1-2 secs then back to normal.

Based on these issues, I decided to buy a new player and I will make the decision between x3 and ak100 coz I want native ALAC support.

I need some help,thanks!

P.S. sorry for my bad English , I am trying my best to improve my English.

I demoed the AK100 & AK120 last week at the California Audio Show. really nice sound quality.

There is a lot to like about the AK100/AK120

But I'm looking at getting the Fiio X3 because of the price.

Thanks ! How about dx50 ? I found it also support Alac format.

Btw I would like to know the ui performance of x3, is it laggy or buggy? If it's smooth I definitely give it a try.

Looks like the iBass DX50 has not even come out yet.

But might any day now.

Yea I'm planning on grabbing this one my self,

And another nice option [and pretty dirt cheap] is the Hifiman Hm 601. The sound quality was better than my Zune HD, and the Line out provided an excellent source to amp, in addition it goes for around used $160 or so, granted it's only 2-8gb on board, but buying a SD card [you can get 32 gbs for like $20] solves that issue. It is how ever pretty darn big but I enjoyed it immensely!

Well I was considering HM601, even the HM601LE is released recently (Limited Edition , putting 602 components into 601 with new adjustment) and It has an acceptable price tag me.

However HM601 or LE both can't support ALAC,even if I don't including this factor into my considerations, the massive heat and stability problem were found by many Chinese users.

Also hifiman seems doesn't provide enough firmware support to low-end model, it's an important factor when I am choosing a new player.

BTW I will try the demo unit of HM601 soon, people seems prefer the "analog" sound signature of hifiman players.biggrin.gif

I dont use Alac ever, screw Apple, and yea the Firmware does kinda suck but I enjoyed v.04. And mine never overheated. Although I only had the older Fat ones. never used to new versions
