Properly amped, of course. ;) That Conductor is definitely the surest bet for an all-in-one that can do both the HD800 and Audezes justice though-NOT and easy feat! Can't wait for your updated impressions. Would be inteesting to hear your thoughts of the Grace dac feeding the Conductor as well. If you prefer that-you might as well get a Burson Soloist to pair with the m903-unless you insist on an all in one. Fun times ahead for you-either way!

Definitely will be interesting. It's going to take a hell of a quality improvement to get me to move away from the convenience of the T5P. I think as of right now I can say I would choose the T5P out of the rMBP over everything I've tried out of the m903 (by cost-to-benefit ratio). The LCD-3 will come Monday and I'll overnight the Burson so it will be here Tuesday. I really wish I could have gotten some TH900s here in time to get in on the action as another closed pair.

Question...do people pronounce "Audeze" like odd-eez or like oddysey?

Try the T5P if you want a closed pair. They sound great to my ears.

yeah i've been using fostex th-900 but wanting something closed as well with a more neutral sound.

i'd be using them at work.

Odd-eh-zee. That's my thoughts anyway. :) May you're on the ball with those purchases-I hope you have enough inputs to get everything burning in appropriately. BELIEVE. You've got some incredible listening opportunities ahead of you. I'd advise sticking with each headphone for at least a few days at a time to get accustomed to each one. With so many options all at once-quick-switching everything is bound to skew impressions a bit. EX: Audeze>>HD800 and vice-versa is probably rarely a treat for both with quick A/Bing imo. I'll find out next week when my LCD 2.2/BHA-1 arrives.

What are your opinions on the TH900? We both want what the other has, lol.

TH900s leak like crazy. Great soundstage for a 'closed' can though. I personally found the HD800 a level above them once my rig was up to snuff. The Fostex will sound good out of nearly anything though.

I can give them each about 8 hours of burn-in, but I can't spare any more time than that. I can't spare a couple days with each either. It's not ideal, but I'll have to go with gut impressions after listening to a couple hours of reference tracks that I know very well on many different systems. I will be making the decision and getting everything boxed up and shipped out before the work week is over for sure. I'm leaving the country the Friday after next and I've got a whole bunch of other stuff to take care of and need that money back in my account, too!

Well-then that's that lol. I for one-can usually tell right off if a sound signature is too my liking or not-even though I can get 'used' to something I don't necessarily like. That being said-polar opposites can leave each other sounding downright abysmal at times in direct comparison. At least the Conductor seems to synergize well with the Senn, Audeze, and Fostex at your disposal! In that setup I'm sure you'll come away with a favorite. Be sure to mention your favorite music types to-as that will give a lot of perspective as well.

On the back of the Burson it says 120v but also says 230v. I am going to test it here in the US at 120v, but where I'm going I will need to switch it to 230v. Does this labeling mean that it can handle both without modification or will I have to replace the fuses and/or cable? Does anyone know? It's probably in the manual, I'm just not too keen on changing voltages.

yeah u just move the switch and it works for both without modification or any other changes needed.

and yeah fostex th-900 is nice, u might not like it though, recessed mids (to some extent, depends on the amp), and its a bass monster, great if you like a bassy presentation but otherwise, might not be the best. great headphone though.

I love the HD800 with the Stratus and Grace used as a DAC, the HD800 is my favorite headphone though. I think all DAC/AMP boxes in this price range will be in the same ballpark, just depends what flavor and feature set you prefer. Unless you're planning to have multiple top tier headphones, maybe you should decide which headphone signature you prefer and go from there..........there are plenty of people that ultimately prefer the LCD3 to the HD800. BTW, have you received the LCD3 yet?

Not yet. It'll be Monday.

Yea. I thought most boxes in this range would be in the same ballpark, too. But, if people are swearing to me that the Burson Conductor is going to be so much better, then I'm at least willing to give it a shot to see what they think "so much" means and make sure I'm not missing out on anything.

Other all-in-one AMP/DACs to put in the mix (never heard them though) Audio-GD Reference 10.32 or the Audio-GD NFB-27.  Might as well cover all bases...

Could also add Hilo, Mytek to the list
