I work in a car dealer as a mechanic. I have a real good customer that is a super high end audio dealer. I work out in the Hamptons on Long Island and this guy installs home theaters and audio systems that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Well, I pick his brain whenever he comes in about different things audio. Well, last time he was in I was asking him about interconnects and if they really made a big difference. I have a Fisher 400 and a set of K1000's (among other stuff) that I listen to all the time. Well, today he comes in and hands me a bag that weighed like 10 lbs. He says "Here, see if you can hear a difference in these." Then he goes on to say "Don't lose them, those cables are $7500."

In the bag was a shiny new set of NBS Omega interconnect cables!! It's a bit of overkill, and kind of like feeding a pig strawberries in my system, but hey, what the hell, right?? If you're gonna hand me something like that, I'm gonna try it!

Right now I have the K1000's hooked to my HH Scott amp and the cables are too big to hook to that thing. The RCA ports are too close together. In the meantime I hooked them to the Fisher and I'm listening now with my HD580's. They don't sound like the same headphones. There' a whole lot more detail to them now.

I'll switch the K's over to it later on and give a report. I have to give them back on Tuesday. I can smell that this whole thing is going to cost me some money. Not $7500 though!!

You will hear some crazy stuff with the K1000s then. They will become more invisible.

While a lot of ICs are snake oil, some are not and can make some pretty significany changes in your system's sound. Power cords can do that also, especially the VD Nite and Master stuff.
