Requesting Assistance in Selection of $200+/-50 headphones.

They will be replacing my nearly 3-year-old trusty Sennheiser HD 280 Pros.

I was very close to buying a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50 about a year ago after having perused a while when my jack began to wobble.

However, with some more time for development and a little larger of a budget I'm once again looking for a set of headphones.

The reason I would like an over-ear set is because it's been very comfortable (3-5 hours/day) using some so far and most IEMs annoy me. I enjoy the anonymity afforded to closed cans. The on-ears may be an option I haven't considered.

Uses:

Computer Gaming and Watching movies. Both on dedicated rig and laptop.

Used listening to music off a portable device may soon upgrade to an android driven device.

I listen to a wide range of music, play a lot of games and watch a fair deal of movies.

While perhaps a little out of my budget both the on and over-ear Sennheiser Momentum have piqued my interest.

Good choice, the AKG K550 and the Audio Technica A900x are both cans that have the sound sig of the Momentum, Neutral with warmth,  however the AKG and ATH both can be,,, fickle with their headbands. Some ppl the K550 works like magic, other the ATH A900x is magic, both ofc sound a little different. Still I'll be reviewing both of them here in the next week

Now as for closed can, The Dyer DT 990 and 880 pro are my favorite. The 880 pro are more nuetral and will work for almost any genre, where as the dt 990 have a little more bass. I HATE extra bass in SOME genres of music so the dt 990s are not an everything head phone, but you may enjoy it more than I do. The bass is VERY tight so it's not loose or floppy. I just have a sensitivity to bass so I don't like a whole lot [except in edm which needs as much as possible lol]

Either way the

Byerdynamic Dt 880 and 990 Pro 250ohm can b had for around $150-200 [Open Head Phones]

AKG K550 [-$150-$190]

Audio Technica ATH A900x [$100-$170 (they can be had for $100 refurbished)]

Between those four, are some of your best options for and everything can. And the Byers I've owned personally, and the AKG and ATH I'll be testing out here in a week or less :D
