Have you heard the SM64 yet? Bass and soundstage are two of its strongest points.

It's sort of like going to the Porsche forum and saying "I'm gonna buy the new 911 GT3". "How can I make it go faster and corner better?"

Kidding aside, taking what you've said it's a good bet you'll be very happy with the SM64. I'd say just get them and start listening - then once you realize what you've got you can figure out the amp.

I don't think SM64 is an power hunger iem. However, it improves when pairing with amps. As ericr said, you already have some dac/amp so take the SM64 first, pair with what you have and tell us what you need more.

Don't forget the Phonak silicone tips. They do wonders for the soundstage of the '64s and are a quick, easy and very comfortable fit. Much better than the stock or Westone Star tips (for my ears at least).

My favorites that I have owned

iBasso D6

RSA Hornet

RSA SR-71

RSA Tomahawk
RSA Predator (i'm a bit of an RSA fanboy)

iBasso D4 w/ optional opamp kit

Most of the Fiio amps I like. I have trouble differentiating between them all tbh.

All 3 will do the job and sufficiently well. All the differences in tonality (I've owned, demo'ed these all) are only if you buttclench analyze and are rather minute surprisingly. Just buy the one you like and carry on.

To be fair I own SM3v2, but I feel that this stuff should all work magnificently.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I have tried multiple amplifiers with the SM64s and have found my favorite:

RSA SR-71A

Chris_Himself had excellent recommendations, but NOTHING tightened the bass, added further clarity (especially to the mid-range), and widened the soundstage more than the SR-71A.  They truly sound amazing together, and I recommend that amp the most!

Thanks for the update. How much does the SR-71 go for?

It goes for $465 shipped new, or you can find them used here for around $325 to $375 shipped.
