^^ Freakin' poster child for these. Sonic bliss is apparent.

Someone I showed this to asked me what music I was listening to. I told them that who it was is less important than what it was.

Big thanks to Alex for pulling these out and letting us drool all over them. And to Mike for cajoling him into doing it!!

And BillP... you couldn't have captured a more perfect moment. Thanks.

^^ Horrible photo of some of the best guys around! Great time.
And um Warren...we really should have a discussion regarding speakers v. headphones. <choke, cough> wink_face.gif

^^ Great table-mate Dan (!) with Dustin who is checkin' out the Mo-Fi half-speed master LP rip of Solti - Beethoven 9th.

Thanks for the Hogwood, bro!

^^ Terrible shot of BillP sitting by himself with the biggest surprise of the show (for me).

No... not the In-n-Out burger... the modded ATH-ES10.

^^ So, um... are these gorgeous, or what??

^^ Zu !!! Pumping out some Rage Against the Machine at deafening levels.

^^ another surprise. The Enigma 'Electrostatic Tweeters' on a pair of Magico's. (OMFG).

Big, major thanks to Frank for all he did. Wonderful to finally meet ya!! Hope your flight home was uneventful.

Great to meet Jimmy, Alex C., John Williams, Wolfetan44, Stony (glad you could make it!).

Aameford... finally! Wish we could have spent a bit more time chatting.

MikeMercer. Great time with you!

I know I'm forgetting a lot of others... sorry. I had a great time. Heard some amazing cans.

Thanks to everyone for participating, bring such amazing gear, and just being so damn cool.

Next time!

@shane55 that is an awesome pic of you with the closed Audeze headphone.  They should use you in their promotional material for them!

Got back home very late last night from my trip to CA for the show and some other activities I had planned in the Monterey Bay area. Ended up being somewhat of a whirlwind vacation.

It was a great show, thanks to Frank I for organizing the Head-Fi-related stuff and the CA Audio Show for hosting us Head-Fiers as well. It was great to catch up again with a few familiar faces from Head-Fi and elsewhere, but for the most part everyone I met was all-new - i.e., no one I've met before. Lots of really cool guys all around that know who they are (the names are sort of a blur now)! I actually wanted to make it out to meet the current contingent of CA Head-Fiers (NorCal and SoCal alike) and am glad I did. Hanging out with everyone was a lot of fun.

I completely skipped the speaker part of the show due to time and only checked out the meet and "Headmasters" (the vendors). Lots of cool stuff and it was a great opportunity to check out the brand new Alpha Dog, the Abyss which I hadn't heard yet, the King Sound electrostatic headphones, the closed Audeze headphones, and the SR-009/BHSE out of an analog tape reel system. smile.gif I'll post impressions of all those later. I ended up being able to take my laptop rig with the Audio-Technica AD2KX and KEF M500 and hope that both headphones ended up with at least a few new fans too.

Haven't counted how many pics I have on my camera but I'm sure it's a lot, will try to get them all posted by Friday.

Btw wolfetan44, not really sure posting your own pic as your avatar is a good idea considering you're a minor. Although Head-Fi is generally a safe site, it's still the Internet where unknown people can lurk about.....

Also, no disrespect to the CA Audio Show but it felt small compared to RMAF, which I confirmed later when reviewing their booklet. Those who are planning to go to RMAF might be interested in knowing that RMAF is at least 6-7X the size of this show, if not more. The CanJam@RMAF room alone is probably at least 5-6X the square feet of the Headmasters room. I highly recommend planning ahead a schedule for the 3 days of RMAF to get the most out of it, especially for those who want to listen to speakers, because the number of speaker rooms at RMAF is insane.

Thanks Steve for coming. The CAS is in its 4th year. It is a smaller show but we are working with the  growth and we did manage to have over 40 rooms with 2 channel gear plus a bigger Headmaster event than many of the other shows that were run and  were able to draw over 3000  attendees this year and surpassed last years show in attendance.  I will be working for the whole year for next years show to increase the vendors and to see the show grow. It will take some time to get the show to be the size of the Denver show but I will be out there this year to see what I can do to improve the show for next year and make it a larger event. Headfi members support was fantastic as there was a huge headfi membership there for the three day show. Many were there Friday also.

This is my first CAS and next year will be bigger and better than this year and we hope to keep making it better each year. Next year will have many different changes that I never had the chance to implement this year and will be working closer with Constantine Soo to make the show  better. Thanks for everyone's support.

Shane it was wonderful meeting you as we been talking for almost 5 years now and  I am  so thankful you came to the meet. Great picture of you and nice pictures of the event. The Raven room was super cool with the 140K Von Schweikart speakers amnd the 15K Esoteric was making wonderful music with the Raven 13K mono blocks and all the headphone vendors had great gear and exciting new products.  See you again next year at the show again. We also had some new prototypes there from Audeze and Dan Clark which will hit the streets soon. The Kingsound Headphones Drew brought also were outstanding as well as the Abyss Alex Cavalli brought along with his terrific amplifiers and every vendor had some great products and helped to make this show fantastic. I got to meet every vendor and spend some time to get to know them better and really appreciated the opportunity to chat with everyone and for a East Coast Guy like myself it was special meeting all the wonderful California guys and having ASR fly out  to support the group made it all that much better. Thanks Shane and everyone for the support.

I made it to the show and enjoyed the meet.  I could only stay a short time but I really enjoyed the Headmasters room.  I arrived early and the opportunities for sampling a wide range of products, without pressure, were great.  Exhibitors and fellow attendees (not that many women were at the CAS) were friendly.  There was a problem though.  I have stayed away from electrostats for a number of years and at the meet I discovered that they are still in another class.  I've been happy with my HD-600s and the HD-800s are definitely better for a few hundred dollars more.   Unfortunately, the Stax SR-009s are more than $4,000 and better still (to my ears).  Ah, decisions, decisions....

Hahaha, you couldn't capture the lovely lady that I was having a conversation with. Here she is:

Anyway, yeah, that Audio Technica ATH-ES10 is really special. It was almost my perfect sound signature prior to the mod. And then Martin did something special to it that made it even better.

I'm glad people enjoyed it. In fact, Alex put in some nice words as well! It makes me proud that I'm the owner of the only pair of modded ES10 like that in the entire world. Until someone else sends their pair in to Martin.

It was a pleasure meeting you in person, dear sir! I hope I'll get the chance to converse with you again in the near future. Maybe at the upcoming February meet!

Warren, I finally finished composing that post about the Alpha Dogs. tongue.gif

You can read it here

I'll post the rest of the other photos once I'm done processing them (to make sure lighting is even in all of the shots).

Hello: Newbie here. I registered today so I could thank the members who went out of their way to demo the cans. I did not get to spend near as much time as I would have liked listening to all the great stuff in the Headphone room and look forward to the opportunity to do it again. Thank you all ( I came by for a while on Sat afternoon when I first arrived, and then came back near the end of the day and everybody had gone, so will have to hit again next time)

I'm a bit jealous of all the fun people are having back in the Bay Area!  Cool to see what's trending with Head-Fiers and the upcoming products.
