Self-explanatory. Show off your superior tastes to the inferior. Bask in your higher quality of life from after having used that One Video Player To Rule Them All. Argue, laugh, cry, taunt. After all, polls are but a mere microcosm of life.

Super serious section:

- I've not put out the different codecs/filters/what-have-you as separate answers. Let's not be blatant nerds - we can talk about highly specialized software for playing exclusive niche media like normal, run-of-the-mill folks, can we not?

- Frontends (i.e. Kaffine for xine, or SMplayer/UMplayer/Baka for mplayer/mplayer2/mpv) fall under whichever core thingymabobber that the other thingymabobber actually uses. I'm open for changing that though.

- I can't think of anything else to add. My mind's just not cut out for serious stuff like this, ya know?

Now, on with it!

(if I'm missing your favourite player let me know ASAP)

I just realized I made a spelling boo-boo on the KMPlayer part of the poll. Whoops-whoops.

Actually I tried, MHCP, Sm Player VLC and a HOST of other players and the one that works the best is hands down J River, NEVER any issues with Audio, NEVER any issues with blocky or splotchy video! My only issue with it is. it lacks an easy to use Snap Shot feature :[

And on that note, I watched all of Serial Experiments Lain, on Sm Player, which made it very digitized and wonky... I actually that it was intential as part of the Technology heavy mood xD

Still J River works like magic, and I got a LEGAL version for free! The guy I bought my First Hm 601, used J River to load music onto his hm 601... and he offered me one of his last two activation codes so lucky me!

QuickTime and iTunes are not general video players. They are meant as code packs to be used or opened/embeded in Apple's own products and on websites to play high quality content(decades ago this was required) with less strain on computer resources and as a way of Apple to solidify itself as the provider of every part of the delivery system.

It's noob people trying to use Quicktime as a general video player that has caused a schit ton of problems.

I know at least one person that reencodes everything with ffmpeg so he can use iTunes for everything. The iTard is strong in him. But there are people that aren't noobs and choose to make life harder for themselves because Apple Inc is their waifu.

The tard is strong in him. There are tards in every single thing.

The people that aren't noobs that are doing this encoding stuff are not tards IF AND ONLY if they know what they are doing. Re-configuring your entire media library for one format for seamless intergration across all products of a brand will in the end make your life easier.

Oh the Apple Mind Set. I don't mind having uhh like 3 different players for the different Codecs. I mean that's what a big desktop is for, lots of room to spread out folders and drag files into players.

Just wish J River had a better Screen Shot ability... or that Sm Player ran as smoothly as J River q.q

Yep! realplayer, movist, MPX, or even apple quick-look tongue.gif

I'm a VLC person though.

I used to use VLC, but then switched exclusively to MPC-HC.

VLC because I'm just too lazy to change video players. redface.gif

VLC because every time MPC and the codec packs I use fcks up or I instal it on a new computer. I need to take another 5-10 mins setting up all the shortcut keys to what I prefer of which are keys already standard in VLC.

VLC because the only feature I find lacking is the absence of a playing history, which would be useful when you forget which episode you were on.
