I was hoping that other people inside this thread might know the actual difference (or at least a more recent listen to each one). I plan to ask the same question inside the ESP-950's thread as well.

If you own the SRS-2170 you can always upgrade the phones or the amp at a later date, and keep upgrading as funds allow.

I don't think you can easily do that with the ESP???

^Yes, if you reterminate to Stax plug, that is.

That's probably a question better suited for the proper Stax thread rather than the Entry Level thread ;)

From what I remember, you can adjust the headband according to fit rather than bend the arcs. Spritzer knows the adjustment for fit and comfort with the 007.

I'm about to purchase the SR-202 with the SRM-Xs amp. Does anyone have any experience with this setup? I can't seem to find any information about the SRM-Xs amp.

They are secondhanded (at least) and the owner is asking €350 for that setup, is that reasonable?

Thanks :)

I once tried a Stax SR-507.   The upper midrange/lower treble spike did not suit me well- so I sold them.   I was thinking about trying a 404LE.  Has anyone heard both the 507 and 404LE who could tell me if the 404LE does or does not have the same issue?

The SR-404LE is supposed to be the shining example of what a Lambda can be, or whatever, but they're so rare and uncommon I'm not even sure if you can find one.

I have an sr-202 & srm1-mk2 professional. I got my set for around $530ish shipped.

It sounds great, and I'm sure you would love it. Can't provide any info on the synergy of that combo, but at that price I can't fault it.

FYI you can get a brand new sr-207 set for not much more from pricejapan.com

I have my sr-007 mk 2 on order from them.

Everyone has a slightly different shaped head so just bend them so they fit you and your ears... the arcs are made of metal so if you make a mistake it shouldnt be too much trouble to adjust them or start again.

Re 404LEs - only 1000 pairs were made, that's why they're rare. In Japan they apparently sold out in a matter hours... had to get mine from a US retailer.

Which is why they are called Limited Edition. Supposedly the Airbow SC-1 units are essentially 404LE's according to Birgir.

Very interesting, thanks!

I think I'd rather save up for a new set then :)

I am a little withholding with buying from Japan. What if the item breaks? Or are stax products so well made that they don't break?

My personal opinion is that an SR-202 with an SRM-Xh amp is not a good deal whatsoever for $480. Especially when this sells for $575.

Yeah I was thinking that too, thanks. Especially since that setup seemed pretty beat up.

Is there any Lambda ever made besides the LNS that does not have the etched peak in the upper midrange and treble?
