Please forgive me for the basic question, but does this setting indicate that the voltage is set for 117V?  Thank you for any advice.

No, you need to flip the piece with the arrow on it upside down to set it to 117V.

Over Stax?

Yeah, I'm going to agree to disagree on that one. The HD600 has almost the complete opposite of the Stax sound signature; if you prefer the HD600, you obviously don't value the traits that Stax offers the same as we do (though there's nothing wrong with that at all - different strokes for different folks), and Stax probably isn't a good match for you.

The HD650 on the Bottlehead sounds good, but it can't even be compared to the entry STAX system.

It works!!! I just stuffed in folder paper actually, to lift up the pad a couple of mm higher.

I will agree with the above statements, except that the 600 combo can't compete.  600 and a bottle head amp is a great combo.  its a different sound then the stax, but very good none the less.  I have both, and use both for different music.

What music do you use for each headphone?

for anything acoustic, stax cant be beat.  and anything that I really want to hear that silky smooth upper register and air.  If Im in the mood for a little more full bass sound and warmer delivery, I reach for the sennheisers 600s.  lately, i've been rocking some female vocals on the 600s.  I love the rich sound, but I also realize its mood dependent.  the texture I get from the stax in the bass is really stunningly good.

anyway, different feel between the two.  both excellent.  I've tried some of the orthos, and they have superior bass then both, but I just cant dig the top end.  not enough clarity for me.

A

I have the Q701.
I also have the SRS-2170 system. Even this is a very worthwhile upgrade to the AKG Q701 and K70x series.
The SRS-2170 sounds like an improved Q701.
Sr207 have a warmer midrange/vocal than k702, smoother up top and more detail textured bass.

Yeah the SRS-2170 has a more balanced sound compared to the K 701. I find the K 701 to have a more intimate midrange compared to the more laid-back SRS-2170 though, so in that sense I prefer the K 701.

Just wanted to thank all those involved in helping me get my Stax setup-setup,especially Spritzer, and especially Tus-chan.also,Paradoxper.,& Graben

My setup consists of the Lambda-pro ,and the SRM-T1s amp{.Shipped from Japan}

This my first Stax setup,in a few w words,I'm super impressed, just wish I did this a year ago.

All my other non-stax gear will/is up for sale,now..

On a lighter note:

tonight when I took out the lambdas to plug then in-I was going over the left/right sides ,and noticed a a rather large green/purplish bug crawling out of the left earpad,a rather nasty looking *ucker.

He looked at me-I looked at him..it was almost like he was saying.."Are we already at JFK"?

Well,he is no longer with us now..his head-fi days are over.,

Just hope ,his wife and kids aren,t still in there??

Moral of the story--always check the earpads, before you put them on.

Mike
