What DAC were you looking at?

Personally, I find the appeal of the 2170 to be its transport-ability. As such, I'd think a portable DAC or DAP would be a suitable travelling source solution.  I use the FiiO X5 -> SRM-252s like this on occasion.  I'd like to see someone try packing a 009 with a BHSE, or any of the bigger STAX energizers, on an airline carry-on.

That being said, I currently have a desktop TEAC UD-H01 USB DAC feeding the SRM-252S. I'm satisfied with this combination. I'm inclined to think it can already render most, if not all the detail present in the source material (based on my familiarity with the tracks being listened to). Would be interested to A/B other DACs at some point, just to see.

Maybe an Arcam irDAC
Or an NAD D 1050
Or a Beresford Caiman MK II

Oh man, I really like this little box over my TI-101.

It has some power conditioning in there and I really like how it affects the sound (blacker background, smoother sound, more dynamic).

A friend of mine gave it to me while cleaning out the apartment and I'm not sure what modifications there are since the outlet looks replaced.

Interesting.
Is it just a transformer, or is it a transformer with noise filtering, surge suppression, electrostatic shielding between primary and secondary windings?

Nevermind, it's only listed as a step down transformer.
You'll get a bit of noise rejection from even a simple transformer like this though.

Has anyone read about the lovely transformer boxes (usual can amplifier to stax output) that @spritzer has made and shown at "the other place" ?

Link via PM for those interested...

Nope, but my posts have the rather annoying habit of disappearing when I mention the Other Place's name.

Hi guys, I just put my e-stat amp up for sale ( http://www.head-fi.org/t/738689/fs-mjolnir-audio-fully-balanced-electrostatic-tube-amp) . It's a balanced tube amp built by spritzer that pairs very well with lambdas (at least the 507...the only lambda I've heard :normal_smile : ). I wouldn't normally broadcast that I'm selling something, but this is kind of unique, and again seems to pair well with the non-Omega Stax, so I thought I'd share.

That's a good deal.

Can anyone provide some insight into the Lambda Nova basic setup? Considering a trade for one and I cannot find a decent review anywhere
