Yes the bass is well balanced and fast enough to keep up when needed. It extends really deep though and has a nice rumble with some bass heavy tracks. The Alpha Dogs wipe the floor with my DT880s in regards to bass extension and texture. The DT880s are good at bass speed though and mid attack but the ADs are too enjoyable and musical to put down. I am upgrading to a DHC Molecule cable as well to see any differences. I am getting adjust to the stock sound so I will be able to tell the differences when I order them and test them out.

Just listening to the ADs though I feel that they are the perfect balance without sounding too "wet" or "dry" in regards to the signature. They are tonally on point and sound fantastic with the airy extended treble that makes you go WOW this headphone is closed and can do that?

He send me the peptide synergy one. You gotta have a custom adapter made the wire itself Is for audeze cans but with an adapter you can use the wire.

Sound signature goes..like I said wider soundstage. The bass is more detail, slightly less if that make any sense. More treble, I add the dogs treat to smooth it out but I love it. I may get a pure copper one.

I have used the AD's with the AK240. While the sound is definitely high quality, the AK240 does run out of gas on more demanding music or if you like to reach rock concert levels. I use the combo at work and enjoy it quite a lot. It serves my purposes nicely.

Subbed..just got a md3.2 and so impressed with Mr speakers house sound I'm really considering the alpha AND keeping the md for that fun on the go sound. Only thing keeping me from it is my LCD-xc sitting in the corner. Anyone here has an xc and alpha?care to share impressions..by the way it took me 4 full days to get to this page from post number 1.smily_headphones1.gif

Is this on single ended or balanced out?

Is there still a pair of traveling Alpha Dogs going around, and if yes, how do I sign up? I'd really like to try them before I commit to a purchase.

What do people recommend as a DAC with the ADs?

ATM I'm running a Modi into a Lyr, would probably like an optical input DAC, been looking at the uberfrost but a bit hesitant on shelling out the dosh so soon after buying the Amp and ADs haha :p

I have the Bifrost Uber and its a major upgrade to my JDS C5D/Audioquest Dragonfly. A great DAC. Couldn't really find anything else good within the same price range. Keep looking though.

I see that a few people rave about Audio-gd NFB-11.32 having a good DAC but im not really sure.

I would love an Uberfrost, but they work out to be around 600 shipped to ausland.

How easy is it to install a USB card into them after the fact also? As at the moment I would probably only need optical but in the future that might change.

hahaha wow!

I would have probably just used the search function instead of reading all of them pages!!! ;-)

Anyway, for the price the LCD-XC sells, I wasn't really all that impressed... (was part of justin's Audeze Tour). It does have an excellent sound, don't get me wrong! It provides more bass quantity and the mid-upper treble is more forward but overall I still preferred the Alpha Dogs... from sound to comfort.

I know... blasphemy right?!?!

Could it be my chain (NuForce Icon HDP --> Burson Soloist SL)? Maybe...

Could it be that I'm used to the AD's sound? Maybe...

Or could it be that I just couldn't see how Audeze could charge so much for a small incremental sound quality increase (at least to my perception)? Probably...

I can say that it was surprising listening to the XCs and NOT being blown away!

If you like the XCs, I'm sure you will like the ADs as well (and might even sell the XCs... ... ... :p or not...)

Even my "cheapos" wanted to do battle... from left to right: Perfect Sound Dido D901, Alpha Dogs, Denon D5000 Lawton Modded, Spider Moonlight Studio, LCD-XCs, DonScorpio Dolphin and Drama, Yamaha MT220.

Put an ad out for a bifrost or uberfrost. Try to score one that's local for you. These dacs are built like tanks so there are not many worries about long term use. You can always do the uber upgrade yourself if necessary...very easy. I ended up about $300 after the uberfrost (no usb).

Thanks for reminding me, I meant to do that the other night :dt880smile:

Only thing I'm worried about doing the upgrade myself is that the shipping costs to AUS no matter whether its a full blown DAC or just the uber card is 66 USD, Maybe if I contact Schiit they can offer a better postage deal then that for just the upgrade card.

I wasn't exactly blown away by the LCD-XC's upon first listening. Maybe I was expecting too much but for $1799 they weren't transparent enough to justify that cost. The Alpha Dogs are more transparent across all the frequencies and have deep tight bass that goes well with just about all my music. I'm listening to Jay-Z "Can't Knock the Hustle" from Reasonable Doubt. Very satisfying with the ADs
