If it wasnt for the pandora hope VI they would easily be the best price to performance out there. Not my fav sound sig though but an extremely respectable headphone.

Do you feel it beats out the HE-500 and LCD-2 for price to performance?

You must be new at this hobby.  People have waited months for headphones and years for amps in this hobby.

A $150 headset is not a bad start.  I started from Sony Walkman headphones back in the early 80's.  Back then I lived in Hawaii so the Sony stuff was the Japanese models and much better than the stuff on the continent.  Oh and good luck with your wallet.

I went to the Charlotte meet last weekend and Dan had the ADs running through a Cavalli Liquid Glass and Auralic DAC. It was my favorite sound at the meet!

Depends on where you use your headphone, IMHO a closed vs a open should never be a direct comparison. Its like asking, which is better a Lamborghini Gallardo or a Honda Pilot, they are two different car, the gallardo is fun but I bet you cant haul a family or anything big in there.

Just in case the AD is the Honda, you must mean this one...

Could even be this one.

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 90

I agree. The AD is fast, less beefy and clear like that blue...

alright you guys taking it way out of context but I would say the HD800 is the Lamboghini and the AD is the Honda pilot lol its more practical to use.

lets be honest you cannot use the HD800 in anywhere but the comfort of your own home. With the AD you can bring it anywhere, granted you look like a moron, but you own a very good closed back headphone that rival most expensive closed headphone and even open back.
