Hello guys.

I'm enjoyably waiting the AD. maybe it will come before the Christmas. Nowadays I'm looking for DAC, but It's hard to find which DAC is good matching with the AD. (or HD800).

Can you recommend the DAC? or has anyone use Yulong DA8 or Naim V1 with the AD? How is it?

I tried Alpha Dogs demo pair with DacMagic Plus and I like it plus I really love my DacMagic Plus / S.E.X. combo driving my HD800 connected to speakers taps. This is my end game home setup

I just sent a test email to everyone on the list with a status update.

Woot! Just got my official confirmation email that my name is indeed on the upgrade list. This doesn't mean that upgrades are starting yet. Dan is a tease.

Congrats.  Listening to my pair as well right now.  Sunday afternoon acoustic guitar tracks on the Alpha Dog with some tubes.  A special combo to my ears.

Lots of different DAC possibilities depending on price range and how many features you want.  I currently use the USB input only Ciunas DAC which I put up there with my previous DACs like the W4S DAC-2, Anedio D2, Cypherlabs Solo -dB, etc.  DAC rolling is too expensive so I'm not going to get around to trying different DACs with the Alpha Dog.  If I was in the market for a new DAC I wouldn't search based on the criteria that it pairs well with the Alpha Dog.  A good DAC should be good with any headphone.  Maybe others will disagree.  I'd focus more on the amp end of the things with the Alpha Dog.

Definitely agree (in fact this is a current discussion in another thread, lol).

A better DAC is going to reveal more of the recording (resolve more details).  This is also the major strong point of the Alpha Dog, so the difference between the Mad Dog and the Alpha Dog will be more apparent with a better DAC.

( And certainly anything like a DA8 would quality as a better DAC in this context. )

Off-topic... Assassins Creed Black Flag, Need For Speed Rivals. Also got CoD: Ghosts but haven't even opened it up yet... ;)

Brought my Shure 1540s to work, tomorrow I'll bring the Alphas and then hopefully Wednesday/Thursday I'll chime in with more impressions/words.

Intrigued by criagster's question about SRH1540 and since they cost less (even with the tax) and easily obtainable from B&H i bought them yesterday and tried them with AK100 since this is the only reason I need them. I tried them during my ride from work last night and here what I found. They much lighter but their comfort will depend on the shape of your head and while it's better than DT1350 its not as good as AD for me but I can still live with it unlike DT1350. And while they sound very very good including vocals (they sound same to me) but they have one weakness which makes them unusable for portable use. Their ISOLATION IS BAD since I can clearly hear people talking around me while I have them on but no music is playing so if you want to use them around talking people or while your spouse watching TV they are no good.
