Okey. I read the review of 6moons and just like other reviews it was hard to understand at first because he used many unpopular words, words that we rarely see and many hidden comparisons. To sum up, he evaluated the sound signature and sound quality of the Alpha Dog is somewhere between the Audeze and Hifiman' flagship models such as LCD-2, LCD-3 and Hifiman HE-6 but much more on the Hifiman side than the Audeze side.

So my mind is thinking Dan is really a genius wonderful man. His Mad Dog is behind the LCD-2 and now his Alpha Dog is behind the Hifiman HE-6 but in a closed-back headphone design. Next I want him to create a close-back headphone sounds like the HD800 with the best ratio between value and price. Is it possible?

Nice job Dan. I will buy an Alpha Dog and you will have my name on your long 6-7 weeks list. Please just wait until I sell my gears first, soon I will join the dogs party .

I want to see David's Alpha Dog review too because he is an sound engineer so he could describe the Alpha Dog characteristics better than 6moons review but I think they still have one conclusion "Best value for the price" :L3000:.

Omfg, I have a headache every time I read that guy's review on 6moons.  Wow...

I feel like he's trying to advertise what toys he has at the same time.  Interesting.

Dan,  gratz on a very positive review.

I...attempted to read through that review, but I got lost in the OVER 9000! photos and advertisements.

I read this though:

The Alpha Dog is the small boutique entrepreneur's underdog which shows its corporate pater familias a mean new trick or four plus a full set of heels.
Me: What is that even supposed to mean? confused_face_2.gif

I asked the same question.  I thought my college level comprehension skill was enough but apparently, it wasn't.  :D

It's just a fancy way of saying the alpha dogs are an underdog that also perform.

Don't get why people have such a hard time with that review. It's just a bit long winded and over embellished.

Has someone compared Alpha Dog with Audeze LCD-XC?

I have not seen any comparison of the two. Would be interesting though.

So... in the end, which one do you guys think has better overall sound quality, AD or Hifiman HE500??? Mostly for soundtracks (instrumental film music)

thankyou

I don't think people are having a hard time per se - more like marveling at how little actual info is conveyed in such a torrent of largely meaningless verbiage.

When there are legit sites like innerfidelity and enjoythemusic to read, it baffles me that anyone reads or provides sample products to sixmoons anymore. Reading srajen's utter nonsense is such a turn off.

The HE500 is more spacious and is suited to orchestral music in that respect, but the AD is warmer and has more bass hit. You'll have to balance which is more important to you.

Thank you... well... I like very clear highs, but not harsh. Soundtracks have a lot of highs and sometimes it can even hurt the ear, so I prefer clear but not harsh highs. Also I love percussion in my action stuff, all kinds of punch and pulses. In the end the clearer the better for me.

Sixmoons is a highly read site, with a very positive review if you tease it out of the pseudo intellectual babble...

Congrats Dan!

It would probably help if you gave some examples of headphones you thought were harsh to help better guess if you'd find the AD harsh.
