Hopefully I get time to do a quick video tomorrow before boxing these up and sending them to the next lucky person on Tuesday.

Dan - Is there any way I can reserve a spot in the upgrade program, some sort of page I need to put my email in or something of that sort? This demo has pretty much all but convinced me I want it. Starving student-ness be damned.

Don't do the upgrade program. The wait is too long. I'm literally a week or so away from saying to hell with my already shrinking savings account and dropping the full $600. If I happen to like them as much as I think I will, I'll be able to sell my 3.2s afterward and recuperate some of that money. It'll be almost like going through the upgrade program except I'll get the headphones a lot faster.

My savings is already almost nonexistent, so I don't think I can swing $600 for headphones right now. It would be nice to have the Alphas before Christmas Eve (the day I got the original Mad Dogs) but if I have to wait a little while longer, oh well.

Also, I was really impressed with Nim's HE-500s. Almost enough to consider them in the distant future. I would rather get a better closed back headphone first though, and there's no doubt there are certain things the Alpha excels at more than the MD.

I wonder if it has a loud hiss on the he-500 with it. There is no should or guessing if that could power the Fostex.

How does it sound with it? and what class amp is it? class T?

I dun have the AD yet....but did plugged the LCD2 into this  SA-50 blackbox+ Audiogd NFB10.32 as dac....silent background, no hiss, no humm...

the sound/bass is precise/well controlled.  i m delighted with this 2inch x 4inch T-amp.

I noticed this too. The title of both products incorrectly states quarter inch but the description section of one of them says balanced.

I thought the top is SE and the bottom is balanced. Is it right? I ordered SE Ver.

Looks like both.  Top is left, bottom is right.  Each side has four contacts.

Oops.  Fixed.  Better photos, too.

I know we are OT but I bet it is the headphones and not the amp....

When I had the ZMF mod it hissed on the emotiva. I would expect the AD to do the same thing. The lcd2 gets a lot louder quicker than the t50 driver did though. The lcd2 is not hissing at alllll on the emotiva.

This hiss/humm was tolerable and once the music did play it went away unless there was tons of space in the music at low listening. I believe the AD would do well with speaker taps for all but the most demanding audiophile. If it shares the same amping demands as the AD I would do it in a heartbeat because the modded t50

Thanks for the info btw!

He just fixed his web site. Now it is reading the same as last week. 1/4 and 4-pin XLR

OK I'm in. Sold. Ordered my pair. I've been hanging out for LCD XC for AGES, slowly saving, thinking this is it, this is end game for me and then this comes along.

I so hate head-fi! After a 6month self imposed avoidance of this forum, I come back for 3 days and I place an order!

Slowly reading this thread from beginning to end, want to say: I personally love the red colour, would probably not have ordered so hastily had it been lime green or something so THERE! (but in truth, I probably would have anyway)

I want to congratulate Dan on the remarkable amount of fuss (in a good way) that everyone is paying to his creation. Also want to say offering an Upgrade Option is holycow good. Nice work. It is am achievement, well done.

Ok back to my man cave I go and await delivery...

I seriously need to do a 6 month self-imposed ban of Head-Fi. I'm pretty sure I'm an addict. I check Head-fi like ten times a day...

I'll see you guys in 6 months...:o

Lmao I'd say I check it like 100 times. Even after supposedly getting my "end-game" HE-500s. It's just nice to hear opinions from other people that have the same interest as you :3

Speaking of the MrSpeakers website,

Is the "Universal Mad Dog: Pick a Balanced or Single-ended Cable" better than the "Mad Dog + Leather ALPHA Pads + Comfort Strap"? Besides the Universal being universally usable with both balanced and 1/4 inch amps, is one sonically different or anything? If one was to own a 1/4 inch amp.

oh...that little tinbox hiss a little with my low impedence D7000, just a little, not enough for me to put it down. FWIW

I've just discovered the album It Is What It Is by Brian Bromberg and it's my first Jazz album... I feel weird getting into Jazz as I never liked it... ever.

Slap Happy, Elephants On Ice Skates, My Bass (different album) are all great songs with that bass slapping. All thanks to Koiloco for that first song he recommended to listen to on my HE-500, My Bass, that got me to get this album.

I wonder how it sounds on the Alpha Dogs actually. I could see it being quite good. Although the nice bass AND sparkley treble on the HE-500 really help with these songs.

This is gonna be a weird request, but is there any way we can get one of the Alpha Dog stands separately? I actually think the stand works really really well with the Mad Dog!
