Generally if I were you I would give both cans serious time before making final decision. Im also waiting for more impression from battlefield:)

It never occurred to me to use the E10 for these cans.  Not enough juice, especially the 5LE.

Please don't take my observation of the sub-bass performance as a criticism, just an observation.  The 5LE's have given me some of the best moments I've ever had while listening to music.  However, the power and heft of the low-bass regions do obscure the mids a bit.  There's just no way to avoid that without shooting for a flat response, which the AD's do very, very well.

It was a stupid error on my part and I will leave it at that. Tyll measured what I sent, probably accurately. Don't rub anymore salt in that wound please!

Thank you very much for clarification :beerchug:

That FR graph looks impressive.. Looks a bit like the Sennheiser Momentum

Judging from Tyll's graph, that's not really true. Looks like the treble is a decent amount quieter on the Momehntum than the AD.

If anything, they look a bit like the SR-404 graph from Tyll minus the 2k hill area on the Stax.

MD NOT AD!

Yet they don't sound like the Momentum. Sometimes I think graphs can be misleading.

Graphs aren't generally misleading, it's just that Tyll's compensation curves for his FR measurements are weird, so you aren't getting an exact representation of what the perceived FR would (approximately) sound like, based on his FR plots.

All headphone measurements are weird. Some are just weirder than others... biggrin.gif

Our offices will be closed tomorrow and Friday so there will be no shipments for a couple of days.

Generally, but just because a Momentum and an AD, or a K712 and a HD800 have similar graphs...well I don't think it's going to represent the sound well. As you well know, (much better than I do in fact) many other factors come into play.

My Alpha Dogs arrived! I've only listened for one hour. The sound is VERY neutral. Soundstage is not bad, not quite as wide as my Sennheiser HD600.

Please, try to check the soundstage once again if possible... HD600 do not have very expansive or developed soundstaging in comparison to their direct competitors, therefore it would be quite a disappointment if AD were even worse.

Sorry to disappoint but that is indeed what I hear. The HD600 has better soundstage than the Alpha Dogs. The difference is very obvious.

The HD600's soundstage is actually fantastic in terms of proportions. Not only does it have good width and depth, but it has equal height for a presentation that is very natural.

It's not the biggest when it comes to sheer size, but imaging, height, depth, etc are all great.

I have heard nearly zero depth in HD600's soundstage... Decent width but no depth. Actually, both DT880 and especially x7xx headphones are better here (DT880 wider, x7xx wider and deeper). IMHO

(but still, I would take HD600 over x70x any day so it's not that I dont like HD600)
