You're very much welcome. It helps to follow the Chillstep community on facebook, as they constantly upload new tracks (lots of them are free).

Chillstep was a revelation for me. Between that and Liquid D&B, they are the only genres I would ever need.

here is another...

I'm really wondering how the AD will sound with musak like this. I know it's not specialized for this, when vocals are more ambient than at the front, but still, the Md 3.2 did these genres some true justice.

FWIW: I dig chillstep too...

At RMAF with four sets of Alphas, fresh in the boxes.  Really excited for CanJam!

Thanks in advance.

Though not the best recording/mastering/genre for it, my ears are "trained" so that "Ghost of Perdition" is my reference track. Opeth is by far my favorite band, so I'll be doing extensive listening of their material when it's my round during the AD tour.

But, "Deliverance," really? That's one of their worst sounding albums, I think, from a recording and mastering perspective. Fantastic songs as always, but the sound itself...

"Heritage," on the other hand, was a breath of fresh air in terms of recording and mastering relative to their other albums. It might actually be my favorite of theirs...so bold and different...really highlighted Akerfeldt's abilities.

Anyway, I'm OT now. I'm listening to "Blackwater Park" right now on my HE-500  w/ JergPads. The intro chords are unbelievably sick. I never realize how dissonant they were for the longest time, and I love it.

You won't retire before buying a HD800.

Seriously ^^^. I don't know why I kept overlooking chillstep without actually listening to any.

I now regret that decision very much. It's great.

Thanks to those that posted. Listening to it on the MDs and patiently awaiting for the time when the ADs will grace me with their presence.

Sorry for the slight derail. Last post on this, I swear.

Probably because people like to equate it to a different form of dubstep likely because of the name. Dubstep is a hell of a lot more polarizing, and have a tendency of scaring people away. There's very few dubstep tracks I can tolerate. The rest....not so much.

Chillstep is like a much more melodical, soulful, artistic form of electronic music.

Also 99% less wub wub and wobble.

Oh yes, chillstep can also be found under Liquid Dubstep, or Chilled Dubstep, Lovestep, etc.. though the latter may have a little more dub mixed in, and a little faster than those classified as true chillstep.

Here is an example:

Lol I've always looked for something like chill step and didn't know it had its own genre. Then I found the genre and couldn't find many songs...which is where MLE came in with eac3. Now I already went through tons of sound clouds and got prob nearly 100 songs already. Thanks the the chillstep facebook page link MLE! Already has been very resourceful. Phaeleh was the first artist that I listened to that was kind of considered chillstep I guess.

Oh, yeah. Also check MrSuicideSheep's page

He posts a lot of submissions too, though less free ones than the Chillstep page.

Chillstep is where I go to first for demoing headphones, though I'm definitely not limited to that. The AD is gonna go through lots of Chill, Metal, Trap, Trip Hop, Rock, video game OST and remixes (Nier OST ftw), etc.
