MrSpeakers Alpha Dog Revealed! - The World's First Production 3D-Printed Headphones - Page 161

Not sure about comparison because I still do not have neither a Mad Dog nor a Alpha Dog (this one is certain hahaha) but I read and still read a lot of comments in this thread from the beginning and just as you and some people say. The Alpha Dog like a reference headphone and when people use that word means they usually talk about neutral sound sign. It could be that Alpha Dogs may not have the fun factor as the Mad Dogs and have become more serious headphones for serious listening now.

Ok, waiting is gift that my mother has given to me. I will be waiting for more and more comments, reviews and make my decision, the Alpha/Mad Dog.

Hmmm, The more I think about it the more i'm going to end up sticking to my MD 3.2 I find the mad dog very detailed but when I put them on, I stop analyzing and just enjoy.

Tall Order...

Hmm..that stand doesn't look tall enough to have the cables attached to them

Was there any mention of how tall these stands are. I would like to compare to my omega replica headphone stand

I have to say, I really thought the Alpha Dogs would sound VERY similar to the Mad Dogs just with a wider stage and more air... that's not really the case based on this initial listen...

The main difference I'm listening right now (bare in mind that I have the MDs 3.0), is that the Alpha's are less warm with less bass impact and presence! Sub-bass is mostly similar but mid-bass is a bit less impactful (probably due to MD's bump and the increase stage and treble energy). Also, there seems to be another bump up a bit higher in the mids because somehow male vocals seem a bit more forward now... unless this is being brought up due to having less mid-bass impact.

I've spent a few hours listening today. Let me say this, the bass has exceeded my expectations. Deep, with texture and weight. Can it hang with he400 bass? You betcha.

More to come...

Hmmm so overall after reading the latest updates in this thread..... I still have no idea.... lol

You people are brave using these as a portable, Not because they are big but because of that gorgeous paintwork!!

I used Momentum in train, on the plane and on holiday in Mallorca on the beach - Nothing happened to them at all. Not a single scratch. I wonder how durable is AD painwork...

If dan has applied some scratch resistant coating it should be fine but I wouldn't want to take the risk. I'd prefer something like the M50, DT770 or SRH 440 for outside use. I treat them like crap and not a single scratch.

Will be interesting in hearing your comparison between the TH900 and the Alpha Dogs. I've got the TH900 but they stay at home, they leak a bit to annoy my work college who is on a desk behind me in the same room (been complained to a few times, room is very quiet usually). The Dogs might improve a fair bit here.

Either that or the LCD XC might get a look in for my 30-40 hours listening to be had at work.

Yeah, but AD has this bling you know:)

Cover the AD cups with gaffer tape for protection. Problem solved.

I have commuted with audezes, vmodas, momentum's, Alessandro's, hd212s. Never got so much as a mark on them. Treat them nice and you are golden. Portable doesn't mean walking down the street dragging the side of your face along the pavement smily_headphones1.gif
As I say that I am debating getting a pair of DT1350 or amperiors once my alpha dogs arrive.

Ah that's where I have been going wrong then. Luckily I use IEM's outside so I can drag my face along the pavement with no issues. Not sure why people wear full size headphones outside of the house TBH...
